There is only one hole.

It has a screw cap and in the centre of this cap is another cap which opens out to another hole which I assume now is the valve (it is much larger than the usual 'lilo sized valve, hence why none of our adaptors fitted it).
The valve has a rubber diafram behind it with a small thin piece of rubber protruding through another (tiny) hole in the cenre.  It all looks pretty well sealed and I assume that the correct adaptor will 'push' the diafram out of the way to let air enter.  There are no other holes, valves, outlets on teh airbed, just this one screw cap hoel that must act as a inflator/deflaor all in one.  This is what threw us when we went camping, as at the time we assumed that the inflation valve had been missed off as my brother had a near identical airbed but with a sepaerate valve and release outlet.

It's hard to see the inner hole, but from what I can see it looks very similar.

I'll take a chance and get the Argos 12v car pump (same as yours in the picture).

I wouldn't have thought that there were too many different airbed valve types these days....would there?  Althoug I think Blacks and Ellis Brigham seem to do sell different brands with different fittings(?).

i bought a gelert airbed in an emergency and it has about six different valves .. including an integral footpump which i still haven't worked out how to use! (any instructions gratefully received)

i used my campingaz quick pump in the 'hairdryer' valve (the widest one) which is the same size aperture as the campingaz safety valve... and that worked fine.

according to the blurb the three adaptors cover all eventualities.

Many thanks for everyone's help, on other forums newbies are often greeted with the 'use the search option' with trivial requests,  but no so here, i appreciate all your help.

I'll get the 12v Argos pump as recommende by Karen and a few others.

I blame my brother who is on charge of the airbeds for our annual camping trip.
At the last minute he said I needed to supply my own airbed this year so i got the Argos one and assumed it was like all of his with the same valve (the old small type that uses white plugs on the side).
Anyway, when we arrived at the site there were no holes just one release cap.
He said that it was faulty and I should take it back as there was no valve on it (like his old airbeds have!).  What do I know, I rely on him to know these things!
As it turns out the release cap is also the valve as I mentioned above and hence why I posted here in desperation.  Wouldn't mind but he's been camping every year for the last 6 years or so (me 3) and has a pump exactly like the one Karen 12v Argos one but with just one makeshift adaptor to fit his airbeds!  He also brought two air compressor for car tyres which take about a day to blow up one airbed!

So apolgies for my naiivity, just thought i'd liek to 'clear my name' and pass blame to my brother
