The trouble is that the dark material that many tents are made from sucks the strength out of lights. It gets worse as you get older - reading gets to be a problem. We have just bought one of those Black and Decker light sticks to replace/supplement our Colemans rechargeable. Will be trying it at half-term - along with a light rope thingie. With any luck they should see us from the International Space Station.

I find that alot of tents don't have anywhere to hang anything from, now they have the poles on the eoutside.

I've seen both Vangos and Outwells with hooks/pieces of material from which you can hang lights.  But I do think there should be more.  On our Minny there is one directly above the front door from which I will hang one UFO. Others I may attach to the straps that attach the inners to the fly.

The hook on ours is on the opposite side to the lights, we plan on hanging ours up in the bedrooms so that the light will shine down. Ours are like the first design shown.
The hooks on mine can be turned round so that you can hang them up and have the lights shining upwards or down.

We've got a wind-up lantern that you can hang or stand on a table. We're very impressed with it. They're about £20 so not as cheap as those UFO things which I must admit, I've never seen before! lOOK GOOD THOUGH.

On the strength of this thread I went and hunted down 2 UFO lights at Morrisons, £3 each, bargain!

They are very bright, can't wait to try them out!

The best larger, rechargeable lamps I've found are the £14.95 own brand ones from Towsure, they come with mains charger and car charger, a charge lasts ages and the bulbs are good and bright, they are quite heavy though so you wouldn't want to hang them from anything!

For reading by you can get little lights with a single led that clip on books. Borders sell them for a couple of quid.

I always find reading the hardest thing with camping lights.
