I always got eaten alive till I started taking one a day garlic capsules 2 years ago. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. PamJ
Im with PamJ on this one. Used to get bitten something rotten as soon as I stepped outside, one odourless capsule a day works wonders. Cant remember the last time I was bitten.
they also say marmite is a good one because of the yeast
Sounds interesting, but I would like to know how it works. Is the fabric impregnated or what?
Cheers Latecamper

A balanced life is a glass of wine in each hand :O)
The horses at our local stables have really bad breath because they get garlic granules (obviously the non-odourless kind) in their feed to deter flies. I'm not taking any risks, so it's a diet of marmite and garlic capsules followed with a big splodge of Skin so soft (dermally applied!!) and citronella candles - might not stop the midges but will certainly keep OH at arms length!!!
Hi Beautifullily. As Breeze says the garlic capsules are one a day jobs and I take them all year round. Supposed to be good for you anyway apart from the midgy deterrent. PamJ
I've heard plenty of Gin & Tonic helps - the tonic has quinine in it which is a repellant. Unfortunately I can't stand the stuff so I'll have to try the garlic capsules as I get bitten to bits!

I have found that mozzieguard is really good (healthier than deet). Also find a vitamin B complex works well. I have not - touch wood - been eaten alive for a few years now using this.
I cannot say enough about Avon Skin So Soft. It is the ONLY thing that works for me and I spend most summers on the Isle of Skye which I am convinced has it's own breed of the little beggars - flying teeth as they are referred to by my American Step-grandfather.
It's the "soft and fresh" version of this and works far better than any insect repellent on the market even though it's not marketed for this purpose. My brother-in-law used to be in the army and they have even been known to use it themselves.
So you smell like a tart's boudoir (as same step-grandfather says) but hey..........
BTW years ago he and his first wife used to use it when sailing around the Scottish Islands. At night, they wiped some of it over the mesh on the boat windows because the Scottish midge can get through the tiniest of holes.
In the evenings when camping, I put it on my legs as that is where I get bitten most at that time of day.
