Today I went to the funeral of a mates wife (37). I went as a representative of the rugby team along with 8 mates. We are getting a function sorted to send him and his 6 year old daughter to Euro disney. Then on saturday we are going to Cornwall, 1 year after we threw my Mother-in-laws ashes off a cliff near Bude. Life is too short not to enjoy it and live every day to the full.

Have a great time with all the family

I am so sorry - I cannot imagine life without my sister.   I think it is a really lovely idea -  How about doing something for a charity, perhaps a "Think Pink" event and raise money for charity at the same time (Think Pink is Cancerback up) as an example -  perhaps one that is applicable to your sister, or that she would have supported -

Hope it all goes well, whatever you decide.

Claire, I was so sorry to read that your sister had passed away. I think the idea of an "Amy camp" is fab, You could make an "Amy camp" flag maybe. I don't think your theme idea is over the top at all, the important thing is that you all get together and remember the good times with smiles on your faces-and a few tears too. I'm sure everyone who's read this will be thinking of you all in June.

So sorry to hear about your sister. My sister is my very best friend I know I would be devasted if something happened to her.

Did your sister like Dr Who I can imagine some fun with Dalek and Cybermen running around a campsite.

Thanks everyone for the ideas, and nice words. I love the idea of making a flag, only I can't even repair a hole in a sock, nevermind rustle up something great like that!

I think we are going to go for a "Christmas Camp!". Crazy I know.............I can just imagine our fellow campers, looking at tinsel on our guy lines, fairy lights, a christmas tree, christmas hats and cheesy xmas music! Its totally mad, and there is absolutely no reason why, although "Why not?" It will give everyone something to laugh about anyway. We will hopefully be exchanging pressies and having an alternative xmas diner - BBQ!

Apparantly, some of her friends did this once when they camped, had a ball & thats what gave us the idea. Whatever we chhose, I will deffo be taking plenty of pics so will have to share them with you all when we are home.

Thanks again.

I know that the loss of a loved one - and that includes friends - is hard, so my thoughts are with you. It's also easy to feel harsh towards people who don't come up and offer condolences, but sometimes they just don't know what to say or don't want to upset you.

I love the idea of a Christmas Camp, a fitting way to remember your Sister and celebrate her life. We once made a fairy for the top of the tree and used a photo of a friend who had recently died for the face. We still have the fairy and I still get choked, but we do remember her. I still try to make sure I stop and enjoy scenery, sunsets, and  wildlife that my Mother would have enjoyed - but I haven't told anyone else though. So the relative anonymity of this site will keep that a secret.

If anyone on the camp site doesn't understand the 'bash', then that's their loss.

Take care.

What a great idea for the Fairy! God, its got me filling up just a the thought! Life is cruel isnt it? But like you say, you have to take time to stop and remember/think about all the beautifl and important things/people in life and keep going for them, in the knowledge that pepole still need you and more importantly, you need them. I'm sure my sis is still around for me, I just cant physically see it. I cant wait for this camping trip, Its one of the things thats kept me going over the last few weeks, I need something to look forward to and I couldn't think of anything better than being with my/her friends and family, laughing, (no doubt crying) & remembering.

What a great way to remember someone, after all christmas is alway said to be a time for the young. I now have a great image in my head of you guys decking the guys with boughs of Holly!!! Hope you're going to have a tree and a santa and dont forget to hang up your stockings!!

Have you thought of organising a secret santa?

Thought you might like this:

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.

Some peole move our souls to dance.

Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.

They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts.

and we are never, ever the same again.

You are some people.
