Sorry to bring this post to life again but can I ask how many delta pegs people have bought and where have they used them on the Vermont XL? Off for a 2 week holiday in New Forest in summer - first time camping in this new tent for longer than 3 nights so want to be protected (if people feel the need in July / August).

Rob suggested on another thread in response to my Q that he thought 14 deltas would be needed for the sides of a Vermont XL.
Have now seen this thread again and wondered if either of you could let me know how many you have got for the same tent? Just want to order the best no. for the job.
just wanted to say thanks for the delta invention..we used them last year on our first camping trip and I felt totally safe what ever the weather and our tent was really solid..have just ordered 10 more as we have added a quechua base to our set up as a utility tent and I was not sure if we would have enough.....
If Rob's about, can you tell me if my plastic deltas would be suitable to peg down a caravan awning? Just that we have about 20 odd so wondering if we would need to replace them with metal ones for this? Thanks

Hi Fiona, because of their shape, Delta pegs are probably the most effective type for holding down vertically. There is a very simple technique for inserting Delta pegs in this situation. Place the hook where you want it to end up with the spike touching the ground at 90 degrees to the awning. Rotate the peg (with the spike being central) to almost vertical and insert as normal.
The hook will be where you wanted it because the peg is basically a 60 degree triangle.
Steel or plastic is a matter of ground type but most sites have pretty good soil.
