the campsite we go to doesn't have a launderette so last year we found ourselves weraing our clothes into the shower and washing them with shower gel whilst wearing them! there are only two of us and our clothes are all lightweight sports/walking clothes so dry easily. Am thinking we might take a small tub of washing powder for this year as it's an expensive way to use shower gel!!

Having camped for weeks at a time with various amounts of kids I value the excuse of having to do the laundry as some time to myself! I load up and then relax and read my book without interruption - it's great!

Hi
Most of our trips are two weeks or more, as there are only the two of us val packs enough cloths to last the length of our stay. But one of her pet hates is washing all the cloths when we unpack, so she washes and drys it on site so she only needs to iron it when we come home. It cannot be that expensive for my Val to use it, she detests wasting money.
Regards
Rex.

Am I dirty? I don't worry about the washing I take it all back home!!!  Take enough clothes etc to last the time we are away and worry about the washing when I've finished my holiday.  I'm trying to have a break aswell as everyone else, so leave the chores to when you are back at home.

I'm absolutely with you on this one! Laundry is work, and not what hoidays are for imo.  The only time I've ever done any laundry on holiday was last year when the outer part of our tent got filled with water overnight (now I know why they're called bathtub groundsheets lol) and lots of stuff got soaked.

Portable Washing Machine. We took one of these on our last holiday and it was fab! A cycle takes 15 minutes and was i9deal for doing underwear and small items like T shirts that tend to get dirty. I also washed the T towels and hand towels that tend to get dirtiest.

You would need EHU but ideal for a quick wash at the beginning or end of each day.

That is perilously close to literally taking a kitchen sink!

Pmsl! Do you then have to take them off to wash yourself, or do you get clean even though you have your clothes on?

And to think I felt sorry for the Big Brother housemates having to wear their pants in the bath!

Absolutely agree! When I say I use campsite laundrettes what I really mean is that once a year during our two week summer holiday I do one clothes wash half way through to keep us going. And that's once ayear too often for me. MT

Hello Hilary and myself don't launder our clothes. We use a system used when i was in the Navy so Here it is Good clothes Scruffs and B.B.Q clothes. good clothes in the evening last 2-3 nights with no smoking in Pubs Now. Scruffs Jeans and shorts wear for three days till they get to B.B.Q stage which what ever worn stink. So this in mind we take less clothes no washing and way home we wear the cleanest in the Dirty pile so no need to wash/dry and cuts down on holiday domestic time

Another vote for the laundrette.

Throw it in and go back for it when the cycle is done.

Either chuck it in dryer or hang it out.

What is this ironing thing on some campsites though? Tis alien to me lol

In saying that, there have been a few occasions where someone has taken my stuff out the dryer and folded it and even one time (in Germany) where a woman had taken it out AND ironed it all (including socks lol).

Apparently she loves ironing. I hardly ever iron but was mightily impressed :)

Maybe I should go back to that campsite lol

Angie

OK...you have me convinced, bad idea to wash out by hand...good idea to go to the laundry even at £4 per wash and about the same to dry!! (And that was last year!!!)

Maybe I should google service washes in Cornwall and see what comes up!

I don't think I've ever been on a site that cost £4 to wash and the same to dry! Usually it's about £2.50-£3.00. I do try to dry stuff back at the tent though if the weather is good.
