I always look up the local swimming baths as it is usually a cheap way to get out for a few hours if you get fed up of being in the tent, being in a small tent for long periods can get a bit hard after a while, they usually have family/fun sessions on in the holidays.

A tent with a large living area and windows is good for bad weather.

Swimming pool too for us, even a heated outdoor pool in the rain is ok.
