if yr BBQ'ing why not make up a couple of sauces at home and pop them in flasks or tupperware, the coca cola BBQ sauce is a fav at all of my BBQs (i know it sounds gross but it works, it just works), any meats freeze em and they will keep yr cooler box cold too! this gives you a good start until you find some source for fresh stuff.

also Vesta make a mean "just add water" beef risoto for a quick meal.

if your able take most of the stuff you cook at home.

if i go camping with "the Lads" (its just an excuse to get rodent bottomed in a field) they all take tinned crap and i usually have a couple of chiken fillets or tuna or whatever i fancy(going with wife and daughter nxt week so it will be harder to please everyone)i have cooked on fires, bbq and gas and there is nothing hard about it, remember the spices and things like that to add if required.

i will be trying a couple of deserts with the family so we'll see how that turns out. i might be divorced by the end of next week!!!

Gav,

Tell me about the coca cola bbq sauce.....I am intrigued!!!

I have a double gas burner that turns into a griddle pan so will try a sauce!!

Hi All,

Well I survived!!! But it was quite hard work....

Arrived at campsite, and my eldest (11) daughter helped me put the tent up. It has rained for the whole journey, but as we approached the campsite, the rain stopped. Managed to get the tent up and fully unpacked before the rain started.........It then rained for the next 36 hours constantly!!! Thank goodness for Nintendo DS's, and hot chocolate, as this kept the kids quiet and happy. The sun came out on Friday and the weather was great for the whole weekend. Kids played/swam in sea, and our friends bought a little inflatable boat with them, which was used in the sea, and as a paddling pool back at the tent. Been busy at work all week so never got to update sooner!

Really pleased it went well for you.  Probably all your preparation (wet/dry etc) that helped make it go well!  We're off to Dorset tomorrow, forecast is "changeable" to say the least!
