I agree it is mostly other campers. What I really hate tho is when the cleaners do not "de-spider" which I think they should. As an arachnophobe (sp?) camping is no fun at all for me when I have to run the gauntlet of 8 legged beasties to have a wee or a shower and I only go to places where people have said facilities are clean on the reviews part of this website.

Blimey don't get me started on that lol I am exactly the same as you, I can't stand spiders and a lot of the campsites just don't bother getting rid of the cobwebs!  Not just spiders for me also anything that flies likes moths etc so extra fun camping with me lol!

I was away in June and was just about to go into the toilet block when I heard and then had the misfortune to see a lady throwing up in the sink (dont understand as there were toilets free)  well being an emetephobic my bottom got out of there faster than lightening, and I never set foot in there again for the rest of the holiday route marched hubby to the camping shop in Southampton and bout a portable loo and basically strip washed for the rest of the week, no way was my girls or me going in there.  Then that evening I wa talking to a camper next to us and they said did you go in the ladies this morning, the state of the sink was horrible, I had to rinse it round before I could clean my teeth, I nearly passed out on the spot, some people are disgusting!!!

If toilets and showers are cleaned properly and are dirty within an hour or so of being cleaned the only people to blame are those using them ie the campers, and its not always children some adults leave them in a disgusting state and they should know better, and I'm talking about the ladies! Men don't seem to notice dirt so I dread to think what their's are like.

The stories above are why I took a bottle of spray bleach with me.

Spray the toilet before one sits, and clean the sink before one considers cleaning anything.

At least I know the next person to use the facilities after me could eat there dinner from them :p

after reading these posts , thats the reason why i use all the facilities in my caravan , another thing i have never understood is the people who design these toilets , why they dont have a swinging exit door that you can push with your shoulder to open , i cant count the amount of times i have been washing my hands ,only to have some one walk out of the cubicles and not wash there hands grab hold of the door handle to exit the premises , now i have to contaminate my hands to get out , who designs these places , morons i guess

I agree its campers.  What I wish people would do is supervise small children as well - the times I have seen a little tot barely big enough to climb on the loo come out of one, no flushing or hand washing, poo on seats, even poo on the floor!! I think parents sometimes forget this - and before anyone thinks I am anti-kid, I'm not I have four of my own and three grandchildren and wouldn't have dreamt of them going unsupervised to the loo at a young age.

some people live like pigs at home too, i used to fix washing machines and found about half the flats disgusting.... 'cuppa tea mate? - no thanks'. i wouldn't have had a glass of water some places....

i have a window fitting company, and work in peoples houses 5 days a week, if you could see some of them ud be sick, there disgusting, we normally wipe our feet on the way out and not as you enter, it costs nothing to be clean does it?

It is only this year that I have allowed Alice (71/2) and Pip (just 10) to go to the loos by themselved.   They both know to flush, and to wash their hands.     If I in any way thought that they had messed in the toilet block they would be in trouble big time.
