We camped a couple of years ago at a CC & C site in Sussex on the 16th September and it was brilliant.  Site was quiet even though it was a weekend and I sat out early morning with a cuppa and didnt feel cold at all.  This year we didnt get to sit outside once during our week in August!!!!

We are off to the same site the weekend after the Bank Holiday and hope for similar

Im hoping to go september and possibly early october would love to go in november but dont think im that brave

We're also going 19th Sept for 2 night and hoping to get the October school hols in too (20th onwards). Sept for daughters birthday and October for wedding anniversary.

Fan heater, extra blankets, and winter woolies Unless of course that's when we're getting this years summer!

 Well I am a newbie really having only done a few days camping but one thing I have noticed is that Camping is a state of mind.

  I say this with a point of view coming from hill  walking.  When you see walkers Camping out over night in Dec and January in their one and two man tents, waking up to snow. It makes you think that with the right gear people camp in all weathers but it is the constant rain that is the main kill joy.

 Mountain climbers camp out in Tents (3 to 4 season tents admitedly, but it is still a tent, even if high spec, high price)

totally agree.

So long as you have the proper equipment it's what you make of it.

Many a time there's reports of people being rescued off the fells and hills around here and they are wearing jeans and trainers and have got a mobile phone so think they are safe - no torch, map, whistle etc  or even suitable clothing for the unpredictable Lakes weather.  Good job there are Mountain rescue teams that give their time willingly to help though they must despair sometimes when they rescue people.
