Mechanics inspection lamp £3.99 from Aldi 240v ideal for lighting in tents only about 11 watts but is flourescent so very bright, much better than specialist camping lanterns at silly money. Mick
another thing that I use everytime that we go camping which cost less than a fiver but can not remember how much it actually cost is a steamer tray that fits into any pan and allows me to cook everything on 1 gas burner. It is made from metal and is kind of a circular fan shape, looks like this one
Folding picnic rug for £1.50 (same material as Vango tent Carpets) bought from a local factory shop. I bought 8 pieces 4 to use as carpet in the living area and 4 to use in the bedrooms by laying them side by side. Much cheaper than buying a tent carpet, also easier to wash, dry and pack away but same comfort as a carpet.
I also bought microfibre fleece cloth for £0.50 each.
Husband's wellies from wilkinson's half price at £3.98
Mine cost slightly over a fiver - about £8 if memory serves me right. It is an LED lantern that has adjustable brightness - so you can have it on low if you need a light when everyone else is asleep, or on max for general use, with settings in between.
I bought it about 4 years ago when Alice was at nursery, Those fancy goods companies used to leave samples, so that the parents could order stuff, and the nursery got commision. I mainly bought it to support the nursery. Wish I'd bought a couple it ranks along with the dual fuel as my favourite light. Seen them in the Range at over a tenner.

i bought one of those in wilkinsons. When the weather was truly awful and cooking with our suitcase cooker was severely restricted and the campfire was out of the question, my husband put it inside a saucepan with a lid and made a mini oven to heat a ghastly ginsters pasty from somerfield. He said it actually tasted very nice :)
he said it reminded him of cooking with a biscuit tin oven, when he was in the boy scouts. If he still had the biscuit tin it would probably be worth a bob or two now!
my best buy for under a fiver is my brolly spike from lyndhurst leisure fare and my bestest ever buy which i think was 4.99 plus p&p on ebay was my brand new bodum barbecue! If i had looked at where the seller was from i could have collected it and then it really would have qualified for this thread!

A plastic bucket from Wilkos. It is night time pee bucket, fire bucket, beer fridge and used for throwing the ball in the bucket game. I have also turned it upside down in the shed when putting camping stuff away and used it as a step!
