I hvae learnt not to judge as you never know the circumstances!

I always had a laugh about the saddos sat in vans watching telly ,spesh during the day
BUT

Last weekend ,we had been out all morning and mum had had a bit too much sun and was feeling tired and the only way to keep her still and occupied for a couple of hours was to sit and watch a carry on film inside the van in glaring sun!!

So you never really know ;)

I have often remarked about why do folk need to take TVs camping, why not play cards games have family entertainment and talk to each other like humans. Only then to find 45% of the other comments are in favour of TVs, so live and let live. Good sites have wardens on site 24 -7  and are usually quite helpful, read the site reviews, avoid sites withs bars and entertainment etc, see how large the sites are. Since our encounter with the neighbours from Hell in a tent we have had to do our home work each time we go camping. Always carry those earplugs in our camping kit incase.  Write a site review on this site so as to let others know what you endured, I write a review on every site I go to now and find them most helpful.

Hi again
Well as September draws in and the nights draw in, we spend much more time in our tent. The kitchen tent is put away for the winter and we move into the kitchen area of the Andorra. And the back door is shut off and the ground sheet brought up over the door skirt. So depending were our camp is controls how much TV we watch If we can receive Teletext, we check the forecast morning and night.[just in case]
If we can attract foxes or badgers to the front of the tent we sit and watch them eat the dog food val supplies.
They soon get used to the low powered flood light we set up on the front of the tent.
But also it is very nice to sit in the warm dry environment our 2Kw heater provides, regardless what the weather outside is doing. and sip our preferred drinks watching a film before we drift of to bed around 2200hrs.
Camping, be at one with nature, rest the brain from the rat race we all have to return to untill the next time
we move into our country home again
Do whatever makes you happy, dont knock what others prefer to do, but be aware of other campers.
regards
Rex.

We have some lovely games and family entertainment, sit outside and watch the sun go down with mugs of coco.  Take half a libary of books for us and the kids, go swiming once or sometimes twice a day, have some lovely trips out to the beach or cycle rides ect.  But sometimes we just like to sit down and have a rest and watch a bit of TV.  Not all holidays have to be full on all the time and when you have kids it's nice sometimes to keep them ocupied while you prepare tea or clean up or just have a rest. After all how many of us have them at home for that reason too.  Why is it so wrong to watch TV and why do people assume that if you take one with you you stop talking and having fun together and just stare at it like morrons.  Everything in moderation, we went on holiday recentley with a friend who was anti TV and thought we were awful for taking one.  Didn't stop her and her family comming to our tent to watch it.  One day we went to a lovely beach and she sat on a rock and read her book for hours totally ignoring her family.  We played with the kids in the sand and sea and had a marvelous time.  Her family sat by the side of her looking board, so much for her protests of not wanting TV to interfear with her precious family time. My kids love me to watch TV with them and usually ask me ten million questions throughout the programe, espeshally my oldest who is deaf and sometimes doesn't always understand what's going on.  Family time can be spent in lots of different ways, not just the sporty energetic ones.  Everything in moderation.

We have just had a very loud tv/drunken neighbour on our camping holiday and I left a review of the site a few weeks ago..it still hasnt been added!  The site we went to is usually great which was a shame...do you put it down to one bad experience and risk going to that site again or never return?

Like most people say ,go and have fun in whatever way you choose but remember a canvas house has no sound insulation and being loud in a tent and thinking no one can hear you is a bit like putting your hood up and thinking no one can see you ! Daft !

we take a telly ,it was a little 7" LCD jobby but the problem was its speaker was on the back ,we did know though to hear it it had to be louder than if its speaker was on the front
now we have an 8" LCD (£8 car booty bargain) and its speakers are on the front so hopefully this will help.
if not its the wireless headphone route .
having camped since i could crawl (and probably earlier) i know exactly what can be heard at night
we tend to go to sleep well before the 11pm quiet time anyway so its not such a problem and we are out most of the day either fossilling at low tide or fishing at high tide or somewhere in between
without the comforts of home my mrs wouldn't go she's not a "natural" camper

The only thing that kept us awake while we were away was snoring!  not from any of our neighbouring campers but from our own dog!  although it wasn't every night when he started it sounded like a freight train running through.
