We haven't camped in October but for many years we have hired a static caravan in Devon.  The weather has often been very good, warm enough to wear just t-shirts during the day but the first night in the caravan is always very cold (one year my nose was dripping!! ) but it warms up

So, unless it rains, October half term could be good if you're well-prepared,

Homebird

OK, mind made up, I'm gonna join you crazy people and book a trip for me and the family for a few days over the half term! Had thought about going but wasn't sure, never done camping in october before.

I've booked time off work during October half term with the aim of getting away in the tent one more time in the year. However, I still think that I'll hold fire before booking anywhere until a bit closer to the date, just to see what the weather forecast is like......

We've had one week of grotty weather in the tent already this year (summer, what summer ?) and I'm not sure that I can face another.......

Can I resurrect this thread please? I am half contemplating going camping during half term (still need to persuade OH though!). We normally only camp May to September and rent a cottage in October, so is it just an electric hook up, a fan heater and some sensible clothes I would need? Also, have I left it too late to book anywhere?

Thanks in advance.

We've not booked anywhere as yet. I've presumed you would be able to turn up to pretty much any site as not too many of them will be full end of October, or at least make a last minute booking?

Any regular late season campers willing to agree with this?

We're going away the first weekend of half term as my daughter has an inset day on the Friday before.  I went to Bagnol just 3wks ago its location is superb but then we did have that nice Saturday, no winds and sat out all evening and as for the pub down the road (Seacroft) fab!  We are off to Anglesey this weekend but will probably head inland for half term no idea where to though.

Good sleeping bags, or duvets too. Lighting and warm drinks.

Just want to add it's our first time camping at the end of Oct this year too, after the weather during the summer that has caught us out though I'm sure it's not going to be much worse!!! It's the first time out with our new Georgia XL with carpet!! Can't wait...

We are going back to Lower Lacon in Wem Shropshire as they are having a fantastic Halloween Weekend!! Kids fancy dress & Discoin the barn etc on the Saturday should be fun and at least we can have a few drinks.....(purely medicinal and to keep the chill off of course!!)

Looking forward to it already bought new slippers however now seriously thinking we will need the duvets!!

A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.
