we have a double sleeping bag which is sort of mummy style but rectangular, with a brushed cotton inner, goes into a stuff sack, its really cozy and snuggly1 d
i always have a fleecy blanket stashed at my side, ready to pull around my shoulders if needed during the night, but tbh, since we have been using this bag, I've not needed it, even when wild camping in winter.
Socks, hat, hot water bottle, mats to put beneath the mattress, one of those fleece underblankets, sleeping bags and duvet. A nice tot or two of single malt and a cuddle !
My OH and i are having the same discussion. We are going away in the beginning of October for a couple of days.
So far the plan is
Picnic blanket under airbed.
Matteress topper on top of airbed (it was a cheap one from wilkinsons).
Sheet after that.
Then sleeping bag unzipped topped with a duvet.
Think that will be snuggly enough.
like the idea of hot water bottles though in the bed before you get in - kinda like an electric blanket lol.
well, just arrived back after a glorious weekend and 2 very warm and cozy nights thanks to a sleeping bag covering the airbed bottom and my 13 tog quilt over us, thanks for all the advice the sleeping bag really helped. my OH never moaned once! Was so warm in fact that another weekend away before winter arrives maybe in order, now im not worried about keeping warm!
I used an airbed with a self inflating mattress on top, a fleece folded in half on top of that, and then an opened out sleeping bag with a quilt on top as top covers. I was solo camping so no other body warmth to help out. It was as warn as toast, so that's my way in future.
It's the first time I have used this combination, and I think it is very important to seal out cold rising through the blow up mattress. I have had various combinations under it but they don't work as well for me.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
