Thanks everyone.We've got loads of really good info from people on here. The site reveiws are really helpful. 

One thing that hasn't come up in discussions.  Does every one row with their partner when they put up their tent, or is it just us?

I didn't row with partner

I left 2 hours earlier, put the tent up and then he turned up

It's not worth the grief!

Keely, how do you know me so well yet we`ve never met...............

this week I have finally bought our aerobed, after much deliberating.......got my eye on some storage too.....

can`t spend too much if I`m saving up for a Biscaya!!!!

We did finally sell our empty house in the midlands last week ( after a year of trying)so things are slightly less fraught on the finance front now...one house, one mortgage, one council tax......etc

In our house Dave it's the other way round - so long as he does it my way then it'll be OK.

Mrs Tickle - we argued when putting the awningup and when taking it down. We argued on if the van was level or not. We moved over to tents and yes... we argue when we pitch, usually starting with which pitch to pitch on, then which way the wind is blowing so where to put the door.... all the way through to which table to put what on and where to put the table in the first place!!!

So in short - YES!!

Jo - what you are saving on only having to pay one council tax should easily buy your Biscaya  (if it's anything like ours - over £1800 a year) Well that's what I would use as my excuse if he found it lurking under the spare bed   (no, we haven't bought one but he is looking at a Bear Lake 6 now and it's all Woofers fault)

He`d never look under the bed.......

Yes we could afford one, but we`ve moved to a bigger, older house, and I need new furinture........and apparently I CAN`T HAVE EVERYTHING.........see we bicker and the tents upstairs

Glad we're not the only ones.  Keely, it's the same in our house.  As long as he does it my way it's fine.  Unfortunatey (though I'll never admit it to him) he is usually right.  I hope he doesn't read this post.

We are looking at a bigger car.  We've got a volvo estate with roof box and bursting at the seams.  Looking at a VW transporter as d/h refuses to get a trailer. I am in awe of whoever packed their tardis in another thread.  I want a fridge, but short of leaving one of the kids behind, we'd never fit it in.  Thinking about it though, that's not a bad idea.

He also flatly refuses to get a people carrier.  That's why we ended up with the Volvo as a compromise as I wanted 7 seats.  We've got 3 children and it meant that we couldn't take any friends etc if we all went out together.  For some reason he see's a van as being acceptable, but not a people carrier.

We don't argue when we put the tent up, my OH commands me and the children around with military precision, if he says jump we ask how high, that we we have a tent that's usable, it took me half an hour to put the kids tent up in the back garden and it still looked wonky!!

Now when it comes to choosing a camp site that's my job and everybody else just knows they have to agree!

So it's site choosing for me and tent putting up for him, it works out just fine.

Our tent got packed away 2 weeks ago and I'm already wishing it was spring. We argued more when we first started camping but now we know what we are doing we are OK.
