We have this tent for 1 or 2 night stops, or for hubby and son's weekend fishing trips, it's great because it has 2 rooms, it's all sewn in so it's lovely and cosy and it's so easy to put up, even on your own.

Warmth at night is top priority for me, we take plastic backed picnic mats to use underfoot and under the airbeds, we then put a fleece balnket on top of the airbed to lay on, and a duvet.

With regards to the rest of your equipment, shop around, aldi and lidl have some great deals on camping gear. A single burner stove should do for a first and further short trips. Folding chairs you can get almost anywhere (home bargains maybe). I could go on but everyones needs are different and you only know what your needs are after you've been camping! Don't forget the tin opener though!

Claire

I was intrigued by the gelert curlaway and found this video of it. Not a standing room tent though by the looks of things but easy to pitch. The fun will be getting it back in the bag after though lol!

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

I would go for the tent that Dezzie mentioned, the curlaway. That way your girlfriend won't be put off by the time it takes to pitch sometimes.

Get a decent bed. Try here

Then make sure you are warm. A sleeping bag or/plus duvet depending on the weather.

The bed if never used again for camping will be good for guests.

Depending on where you stay you may get away with just the BBQ. Breakfast can easily be cooked on it and then you can sample the local pubs/shops for dinner and tea.

But a small suitcase style gas burner would allow you to boil water for a kettle, though then you have to start thinking of getting things to use on it.

Take a cheap picnic set to eat on and with and a couple of picnic blankets to place on the tent floor to make it really cosy.

If you see a family struggling to put up the tent then it must be us!

Its not a full standup walk about type, but its 173cm high which compared to the usual popups is fantastic. Im 5'8" and found it very comfortable to be in when I tried it out in Go.   Im quite tempted myself to get one. Dont be put off if its badged a Scaffell Rock. Its still a Gelert.   The benefit of this tent is that you will NOT argue when pitching it. You can sit and watch all the other couples on the site argueing instead.

The Lakes? It will be cold, wet and lovely. Make sure the tent is at least 2000hh. I can recommend the vango sigma 300. Double airbed with insulation under, fleece blanket on top then you and sleeping bag+. Single stove such as uno and camping chairs. Basic cooking gear from h&b and your away.Hope you love it as much as we do. Can recommend Great Langdale
