... I have taken a Duvet Day. A Sickie off work!  So has the husband (our first in 8 months so don't be too hard on us)  .....

You might want to think about the reactions to your post of fellow posters on here who have lost or can't get a job.

You know what, this post was meant to be a light hearted subject. If you do want to get serious about those who are losing or have lost jobs, some of us feel we deserve a day off without having to take Annual Leave, for which I save up to take off when my husband has treatment/scans/blood tests/chemo for his cancer (which incidentally i have mentioned only once on here before) Hence the reason we started camping last year as we cannot get insurance to cover hinm to fly abroad.I do not judge others, please do not judge me. Thank-you.

I have to agree with you, and well said,

Your first in 8 months! wow - how often do you do this?

Surely it would be far better for you to negotiate compassionate time off with your employer to go to the hospital when you NEED the time off and to use your annual leave for when you WANT it.

If I were your employer and suspected you were having the odd Duvet day (even if only once a year) then I would be far less likely to be amenable to 'compassionate' time off when you need it, so lets hope you don't.

Sorry to hear about hubbies illness, but still don't think you should be crowing about cheating your employers.

I have posted on here about being out of work and unable to book any holidays this year, but I enjoyed Clare`s post and found no offence and please, I don`t want this site to degenerate to the level of many blogs where posters just sl*g one-another off.

I get enormous benefit from this site with information and FUN and would prefer it to stay that way.

Sorry for being serious.

Brian

I totally agree - for goodness sake can we all just relax a bit.

Although I've never swung a sickie in my life I can well imagine the temptation. We're both off on hols today and have just got back from the nearest camping place and a long pub lunch....It feels so naughty !!

It must be getting close to camping season and we're all getting edgy.

Think we need to call this post a day now!

I think in future I will keep mine and my husbands private life away from UKCS and just share with you our camping experience. Apologies to those I have offended who seem to have a far more serious approach on life than I do. I think I removed the pole from my ars* around the same time as the husbands diagnosis.

Regards Clare
