Nothing to add really that hasn't been said already.

My girls are 12 and 10 and we are lucky to see them at all all holiday - wherever we go.
Within an hour (usually less) of arriving on site they are off to explore and usually come back with a friend or too before we are fully set up!!

We take a pack of cards and a couple of other games for wetter days but still find they go out and play - take waterproof trousers, wellies and jackets every time.

They take DS's but they never get used apart from in the car on the way there and back.

My lad is 13 & can usually find a game of footie & join in before the tent is out of the bag. Go to the sites with facillitys for familys & you'll hardly see him.

If you fancy joining us at Blue Dolphin for bank holiday weekend you would be welcome.  My boy's are 12 and 14 and 18 all like making new friends, like football swimming and all the boy stuff Ds and all that mularky.

Wow thank you for such a lovely offer. Which bank holiday is it that you are there? Will have a word with my OH to see what work we have booked in.

My son has read through all your replies and thanks you all. It has put his mind at rest. He was a bit worried that maybe there wasn't a lot to do for some one of his age. He likes the idea of going somewhere near a wooded area so he can explore. We have already spoke about getting fishing rods for him and my OH. He gets on with people so I can't see any problems there.

Again a big thank you to you all. Looking forward now to our first trip away

my girls are 11 & 12, they go off and  make friends as soon as we arrive!!

they go off to the park or  pool while we set up, and you can gaurantee by the time the tent is up they come back and  intruduce us to some  'friends' they have made!!

my 11 yr old finds it easier to make friends than my 12 yr old, as she has  ADHD so making friends is difficult, but saying that she does go off and  have  agreat time.

We don't allow the girls to take their  DS or any thing else its all out door toys, we pick sites with out door pools and  they go in them no matter what the weather!!
