Thanks for all the advice. We're prepared for it being cold when we go to bed but we have just got an ehu and a fan heater so I think we'll be ok. I was wondering more about being able to sit out. I liked the idea of the fire log in the bbq if we are allowed, if not it's cards inside or down to the pub.
well, I was cold in bed in my house last night....so feeling a bit bothered about camping on Friday !....having said that the EHU and heater should work well...and to be fair we've had some pretty cold nights even in mid-summer. I just hope it doesn't rain....forecast according to metcheck looks reasonably promising though,...so fingers crossed for everyone whos going away this weekend.
We were below the Wallace Monument in Stirling... beautiful sunny days, but the clear skies brought the frost on. Inside was cozy enough with EHU, but I'm glad I grabbed a double quilt at the last minute to go over the sleeping bags
we had ehu last week and a fan heater, the problem was the site elecs were only 6amp so the heater tripped the electrics, next time will take the halogen heater as well s it uses less power.
I weekend camp without children and outside of June/July/Aug I look for a site with a pub nearby as the evenings are nearly allways too cold to sit comfortably outside.
Remember take plenty of layers! You can always strip them off if you get too warm, plenty of insulation under you're sleeping bags and a couple of blankets over. The layers trap air which will warm up. Just don't get too cold in the first place, I have camped this weekend a while ago and we experienced all array of weathers, Just be prepared! It can be cold at night even in the middle of summer!!!!

Best keep off the baked beans
I camped this weekend too at Coopers Edale, and like loads of people doing their Duke of Ed I had a fab weekend. Warm sunny days for walking around and about on the edge of "the big hill". Site was busy and by Sat morning was full.
Cold at night if your nose happened to be poking out the sleeping bag :) Order of the night, Pjs, fluffy socks with pjs tucked in, good bug bag, blanket under sleep mat- stopping condensation. Blanket on top and hoodie on stand by.
No EHU but back up gas cannister heater just in case, but only needed an hour before bedtime.
