I keep suggesting that we camp locally. In fact, the first two sites on my list are within half an hours drive. I often wonder if by camping locally I'll actually go and visit all those places that I never visit that are on my doorstep.
We are contemplating going down the Lleyn Peninsula this weekend, despite OH being north walian born and bred he hasn't seen much of that area so its nice to have it on the doorstep so to speak and explore. Going to Whistling Sands beach, if the weather is good, the kids love it with their wetsuits and body boards.
A big part of our camping trips are OH's sea fishing excursions so inland campsites are no good to us - the nearest are at least 1 - 1 1/2 hours away on North Wales Coast - no sites for camping on the Wirral (see another post) and very few, if any in Lancashire - if there were we'd go most weekends.
ooh but two miles up the road is a lovely campsite, good for a weekend away, no housework to do and a chance to gaze at the beautiful countryside near where I live, visit local towns as a tourist not a local. It's great, do it as often as I can.
