Picnic rugs on a silver backed mat then the air bed with a thermal fitted sheet, us and the duvet.
oldest daughter has same but fleece blankets as well.
Youngest prefers just a sleeping bag (no quilt) on top of fleece blankets but is usually found curled up in the corner of the pod in the morning - well away from her air bed - which they both now sleep on deflated!!
Quilts for us too. We never even tried with a sleeping bag as I just don't like the idea of them. We have picnic rugs, coleman raised queen airbed, fleecy mattress topper, fitted sheet then quilt on top. I was a little cold in the middle of the night at the beginning of may but the fan heater soon sorted that.
Quilts here... one underneath, one on top.. snuggly! I have a confession to make too.. we often use our electric blanket to warm it all up to start off with too! Well, if you're using the EHU!!! (Is that very bad? It always feels a bit naughty... but oh so warm! I think this makes us glampers..!!)
We pack our quilts into those roll up to expel the air plastic bags - a bit like the ones you can suck the air out of with a hoover, except you just roll it up to squish the air out instead, brill for camping. I think they're called pack mate.. here's a link to someone selling them if you're interested! http://www.allupandon.co.uk/storage/scottpackmate3
Used cheap sleeping bags last year, they were awfull!!! Going to use duvet this year. I've already used duvet for garden camping a few weeks ago, it was so much more comfy and slept a whole lot better.
We use quilts too. To save on space, we use those vacubags, and our pump has a deflate on it, so we don't have to pack to hoover. We got our vacubags from dunelm mill, £3.99 for a massive one which fits in 2 singles quilts and 2 pillows and it deflates down to about 5cm thick!
------------- Loving our Khyam Ontario 8 with sun porch!
Funny you should post on this, because whilst we were camping over the last BH I vowed to myself that NEXT time I will try the duvet. Like others have said, I hate the feeling of being so enclosed (four layers of clothing on top to keep out the cold AND feeling like a caterpillar was not a good experience for me!) These postings have only served to make me more determined to join the duvet crew!
we are newly quilt converts, i have always used bags but on our last trip i bought some new bedding and took the quilts and i have to say i did prefer it so i think we are quilters now
------------- A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

glad were not the only ones. hubby thought we were odd with all the sleeping bag post cos we carnt stand them. I am lucky cos aswell as the dogs I do sleep next to a hot blooded Italian so that helps but i found aswell with sleeping bags i got to hot and couldnt just stick my leg out to cool down like i would at home.I recone we shouls start a group for qulits rule lol

It's nice to be important but its more important to be nice
Duvets for us too. Picnic blanket on floor, then coleman double height airbed, then fleece blanket, then fitted soft cotton sheet, then duvet and fake fur throw..its lovely! But the throw does take up a huge amount of space, so sometimes does get left behind!
The kids all have sleeping bags with a fleece blanket each.
Does the airpump suck enough air out of the vacuum bags? I have only used them at home with the hoover.
Do people use a duvet over two single airbeds? I guess if we got a kingsize it might work... I too hate feeling trussed up and often wake up in a grumpy tangle...
yes like you, i hate sleeping bags, feel to enclosed, we have a fleece sheet for over air bed and i think its a 12tog feather duvet, we use one of them compression bags so dosent take up any space at all.
