Just a note about buying an MX5........I know someone who had been trying to start a family for years, but when his wife reached 40, they accepted it wasn't to be and bought an MX5. Within 3 months they were expecting their first child, so the Mx5 was sold.

When 1st child was 1yr old, they decied they would have another MX5 (as a second car this time) and, guess what, after owning the second MX5 for  a few weeks, they found out they were expecting their 2nd child.

They now  have 2 children and a MX5 for sale.

Here's us camping in the MX-5 at Folkestone on the way to France. We even found space for the picnic blanket for the porch. The Vango we now have packs much smaller than the old royal in this pic which really helps.

We once got four people, all gear and food in a 3 door Nissan micra. Was fun :D

we did manage 2 adults, 2 small kids (3 and 4) for 2 weeks on Mull -in a Mini but we did also have a relatively small roofbox. Can't quite imagine how we fitted in everything. I don't think we took the table and chairs that year!
Fuel costs that holiday were remarkably low, and we did get the last space on the ferry as it would only fit a small car. So there were some advantagesof being cramped!

I yesterday picked up my new car - a mini convertible ( so no roof rack there then) .
I usually don't camp light

But I slightly cheated , I bought it knowing I could still camp because Mr Dozy has the 'camping car' a citroen grande Picasso .

So when I want to camp - I'll just nick his

Gosh, I wish they'd manufactured the MX5 20 years ago when we were trying to start a family

We have a 3 door Punto and we are needing to invest in a trailer. It could probably be done with a decent enough roofbox though if our tent was a little smaller..
