A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

I don't have small children, so as an adult campsite user, I would like to say that I love to see children whizzing past on their bikes. I think children on bikes are part of the camping experience and the childen without bikes seem to be in the minority.

Take the bikes !!

Not to be outdone by his older brother and all the other kids on the site, my youngest son was just 2 years old when he learnt to ride his bike without stabilisers on one of his first camping holidays about 4 years ago.  We now wouldn't dream of going camping without the bikes, It's a safe(ish) way of getting the kids used to riding on paths/roads, stopping at junctions and being aware of cars etc whilst the cars are driving at very low speeds. I feel much happier with them riding on a campsite then on the streets.

I also agree with Valk_Scott, kids that cycle on campsites do seem to be much more confident riders.

We managed to fit 3 bikes on top of trailer, which is great. As we have to dogs one of us (me or oh) have to walk so its ideal and as eldests bike is big, oh can ride it as well needed. Wouldn't want to camp if couldn't take at least boys bikes

I had a girl who cycled right into the front of my car last week, I couldn't believe it and now have big scratches all over the front from it17 So,  or if I do see kids on bikes and they come anywhere near my car or tent in future I will be telling them to back off and to cycle in more open land before someone else get's chance to do it again!

We cycle enough day by day not to worry about taking bikes or scooters . Have noticed the obvious consequence of more good folks becoming campers , is the rise in number of cycles , skates and scooters , and fall in the space to take part in these activities ,to a point that it can resemble a Mumbai high street .

Be seeing you!!

Honestly it was ridiculous this girl and her brother. The girl clearly had no control riding a bike on wet grass and was earlier seen all over the place. They weren't even camped in our field but the one to the side of us so no parent's in view, god I was soo angry with her!!

We have a roof box and no tow bar! ...the car is only a 1.4 auto fabia estate and cant cope with carrying anything else. I have spent the past 2 days looking at old 4x4s on autotrader lol. It was so humiliating only been able to go 25mph up anything other than downhill rotfl!!

We are looking at getting a trailer if we dont change the car but still dont think there would be room.

Bertie34, the problem with a lot of the 4x4s is that they have so little luggage space once the kids are all in. It might be worth looking at cheap Volvo 740 estates and that sort of thing - they can be had for just a few hundred quid and can last forever. Or what I've got - a Mitsubishi Delica that has 8 seat - I use it for work during the week to lug tools around with the back seats folded up, and it still leaves 5 seat with tons of space. They have much much more space than things like the Pajero/Shogun and are great to drive - can see over the top of all the hedges. Fuel economy not too good though, but I justify this by often carrying a least 6 people, in which case my "person miles per gallon" works out better than a half full bus!

Kids almost always take their bikes and more often than not hubby and I take ours too. Definately need to use the trailer if we're taking bikes with us!!!!

We have just got back from our very 1st camping trip to THORPE PARK and didnt want to come home. Car was packed to the rafters and had cycle rack on back that made car sit on its haunches(LOL). But I am glad I took bikes , girls thoroughly enjoyed the extra freedom they were had being allowed to cycle round site with friends they had made.

Much better than being ripped off by paying for sporting activities that are free at a sister site!!!Cant wait to go again!
