Having had the same problem at a site near Salcombe in Devon we can sympathize with you all, it just ruined everything, you don't sleep well and then your tired the following day and cooking is just a joke.

These sites need to be honest about their sites as it is just unfair when you have travelled for over 2 hours, as we did, to only arrive at what you know when you stand looking at your pitch is going to be a problem but its too late to do anything about it.

Slopping sites for hardcore campers with their smaller expedition type tents is fine as it doesn't faze them but today's larger family tents are just not designed to be twisted on such ground, lets face it Glamping cant cope with slopes.

I've just returned from camping on a pitch that had a slight slope - enough to make plates drift at the slightest jog on the table. (although it was worse on one table v another because of the type of finish - a slighty bumpy finish v smooth plastic - the smooth was the better of the two).

The small foldup camping stools that we use were also a bit susceptible to sliding and/or falling over but we managed. This was not helped by having a carpet in the tent.

Anyway... slept with head towards the top of the slope and it was fine.

A flat and smooth pitch would be nice but I would camp on the same sloping pitch again too but would buy some anti-slip matting for the table.
