the lake district is no better or worse than the rest of the country when it comes to crime, its easy for us to give advise after the event i no, but the only advise i can give is make sure you give them a good kicking before you ring the police if you catch anyone, because for stealing a 500£ bike they might get a 50£ pound fine no wonder they do it.
Its not going to stop us going. We will just be vigilant and make sure nothing is left lying around at night. Our Dog will go daft if anyone approaches our tent at night though.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.
The happiest people aren't the ones who have everything they are the ones who make the most of everything they have
Many campsites are open to anyone walking in. It's very rare anything goes 'walkies' but it does happen. I had my handbag stolen from the footwell of the car during the night. This was over 30 years ago, so it's not a new thing. I always take it in the tent with me now. We lock everything of value in the boot at bedtime or when going out.
Thats where we put stuff, in the boot and take everything valuable with us when we go out, cant believe the nerve of some people who think its ok to take things that someone has worked hard to get
