Hi,

Just been reading all above. I have just come up against the same problem. I need a trailer wheel clamp. I recently purchased a trailer the DUUO collapses into itself - kind of. I thought well I get this trailer and then I can out the stuff in out the camper and we will have all the room in the world. So when I got the trailer I folded it up, for want of a better way of putting it stood it up on its castors and wheeled it through my back garden gate (door) into the back garden. Brilliant I thought safe as houses. Then we tried it out this weekend. Put all the stuff in and off to Pooley Bridge and the trailer worked a treat. However when I got back I decided that I want the gear to stay in the trailer all the time and to leave it on the front driveway. After all whats the point of having a trailer if you have to unload it all back in to the van when you get home . So I ordered a clamp to fir a 15 inch wheel........................... and it arrived today. HTF was I to know that the wheel is just the little bit in the middle of the tyre. So I now have a brand new wheel clamp that fits the campervan............ and have decided to chain the trailer to the gas pipe outside till I get something sorted out tomorrow. I also have one of those key locks for the hitch which is I thank very good its only small and stops people un hitching or hitching it up.

I am now on the lookout for a small wheel clamp

The DUO Trailer that I bought AT THIS LINK

I was advised against getting anything fancy by the retailer that sold me my Brenderup 1150s trailer, as it is small enough for 2 people to pick it up and loaded onto the back of a truck if they are determined to do so.

They advised me to get a long padlock to prevent the hitch from being engaged.

On the advice by others on UKCS, I bought a heavy duty motorbike chain so that I can chain the trailer via the A frame to the tow bar of my car. I only use this when I stopped at a motorway services or overnighting at a motel.

At a camp site, I only use the long padlock to prevent the trailer from being hooked up. I carry a bike cable and lock too, however, I have only used it once.

As our trailer is stored on our front garden we use a huge chain and padlock and we also have a clamp. We do use the clamp on the camp sites and I would be very surprised if nobody took any notice of two people lifting it off a pitch!

Take the wheels off and put it on axle stands if left for a long time on a driveway.

Use alarm padlocks on site.Lets face it if anyone tampers with it and sets them off there will be a dozen threads about the noise they make.

Seriously we used alarm padlocks but wedged them so they couldnt be accidently activated. We also use for our bikes on site.

Long padlock to stop it being hitched. Also milenco compact clamp. Both are a deterrent and cheaper than a new brenderup

Hi our trailer is a 158 Daxara  we took the decision to get a wheel clamp (tis heavy good job we have a trailer to put in in/on.)

As we tend to camp abroad and this involves over night stop overs at hotels and a weeks stay at  friends flat thought we should do some security measures, the trailer and the kit inside cost  2k.and would not leave it unsecured.more importantley if it was taken we would not be able to have our holiday/camping .our car would just not have the room.

we also have a tow hitch lock and locking wheel nuts

we would take turns to use loo etc at servicesand keep trailer and car in sight when stopping at aires.I would feel most secure/relaxed onceat the camp site as we know the layout /area and other campers lookout for each other.

Whilst I think any thing can be stollen if the person is determind enough ,I want to minimise the risk.Hopefully it will mean that I can sleep better I usually don't,execpt on the campsite

we did consider just using a large chain but then there has to be something conveniant to chain to and the quaility ones are heavy and pricey,

So no you do not need one ,but may think you should get one
