Well it rained again during the night but so far today has been bright and sunny and hot. looking a little grey just now but I think it's just a cloud that will pass over.

I suppose I'm not in the middle of the Lakes so it could be totally different around there.

How about trying Wild Rose at Appleby or somewhere around Kendal or Penrith (but not Lowther as it's Kendal Calling this weekend up there in the deer park bit)

If you have to come through Kirkby Stephen - beware they have a road up - supposed to be finished today - but it will add about 20 mins onto your journey.

We stayed on the west coast of the Lakes for a week last year and while we had a mostly fine and dry week a friend of mine who was in Coniston at the same time said it was wet and miserable all week. We went to St. Bees for the day and from South Head you could see the mass of black cloud over the rest of the Lakes. We felt very smug!

Thanks for all the suggestions but we've decided to stay at home and wallow in misery (and red wine) for the weekend. I like the sound of Wolds Way though and I've made a note of it for future reference.

We came back from Wyreside on Tueday and it was getting bogged down then, the main field didn't look like it was draining well and what with even more bad weather after we left it doesn't suprise me.

I hope it turns out well on Anglesey for you

We just had a week of torrential rain. The campsite we staying in had excellent soil as it drained really quickly and never got very muddy. It was a few miles from Woolacombe. We did bail out a day early as the tent was dry and we had heard more rain was on its way!

Wow, we were on the west coast of Scotland all last week and although it did rain it really wasn't too bad. We even had two beautiful sunny days with no rain at all. Looks as if the weather gods were smiling on us.

Having visited the Lakes for the day yesterday can see why sites have been flooding, the rivers and lakes all seem high and water is running down mountain streams at quite a pace. We drove past the site we should have been staying on this week and it, and the one next to it, looked very wet and boggy.
