im trying to comvert my friends managed to persuade my friend to come with my dd and myself. going to goathland fri sat night. shes just rang me and was worried that we'll be two girls and a 6yr old in the middle of a dark field completely alone. i said i am sure that there will be plenty of other campers and we'll be safe. hope im right. she does get scared really easily. wont watch horror movies etc.
Work colleagues were converted about 5 years ago after hearing my enthusiasm.
Daughter and grandchildren started camping 2 years ago and discovered they like it. Last week we camped near New Forest and middle grandaughter aged 11 wanted to know when she can go camping on her own. She has taken to it like duck to water.

Made me smile! I thought I'd converted my friend last year after we had a one-night trial run which she really enjoyed. Sadly though, when it came to the real week long holiday, she didn't really 'get it' and wanted to go to Morrisons for breakfast every day, plus cinema/bowling and pizza hut or McD's every evening! She packed up and came home 2 days early as it had rained and hers and her son's suitcases got wet!
Jewelly converted me to camping - I was brought up holidaying in a Static van at "Golden Sands" in Mablethorpe until the age of six, and then in a touring caravan until it became "uncool" to go on holiday with my parents (I was probably fourteen?)
It was then either foreign holidays, or hotels/B&Bs/Holiday cottages in the UK - although I did wild camp for my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards.
Jewelly has been a "tenter" all of her life, and a couple of years ago persuaded me to have a go.
Love it to bits - much more fun than a caravan.

hippycaz, i hope you put them straight on the matter.......
the beds are just a promotional tool....... in reality;
people who camp..... wrap their children and themsleves in mummy sleeping bags and sleep half way up the nearest tree on a branch suitable for their width and weight.................

I was in a particularly boring meeting so all she got was a roll of my eyes that only a 14yr old can pull off sucessfully!
I saved the sarcasm till we got out AND made her look at ALL the other photos

Seasonally sited in Devon for the first time!!!
My sister is absolutely against camping, it took a lot to get her into a static so we could holiday together.......so why are the all the mornings and evenings spent at my tent and not her van?
