We just came back from the lakes a day early. Wind was 30 plus mph gusting to above 40+ at times. Was not much fun watching the tent pegs get lifted out of the ground, due to the forces on the side of the tent. We managed to pack away our mud covered gear without lossing anything which surprised me a lot. Still had a lot of fun the last the few days, just hell this morning.

It wont stop us going again, and I cant wait to plan our next trip. I am very pleased with the strength of the tent and it stayed bone dry which is great news. Hoping for a boring sunny trip next time

Weve just got back from Anglesey and the wind and rain are still driving.  Weather dreadful to pitch and de pitch in think we only just got dry and warm as it was time to pack away!

However yesterday was gorgeous, spent the whole day on the beach so its swings and roundabouts.  I have to say Im so impressed with the tent.  It stood up to hellish winds and driving rain all night every night with barely a drip coming through.  An awful lot of people packed up and left but we stayed the course lol.  Hope you havent gone to Fedw Uchaf by the way 17 more on that to follow.

Lligwy beach is beautiful though really decent place to spend the sunny times.

I live in Poole in Dorset , i can see the sea from my house . I've just opened the window and had to close it quickly . The wind is terrible, drizzle as well.
I've just thought about those on holiday camping in the area. The new forest, Wareham Forest etc. Unless they've got sturdy tents i reckon the wind will be giving them a lot of trouble today.
Tomorrow is forecast warm and sunny and breezy for the weekend. So if the tents in the area survive today they should all have quite a good bank holiday.

Our advance party has gone to Cemaes Bay this morning - pitched up OK after waiting for rain to stop and pottering about unpacking in blazing sunshine half an hour ago - site a bit waterlogged but is sheltered so although it's windy (trees are blowing etc) it's not affecting the tent. Me and DS are going tomorrow morning and OH coming later with boat after work - not sure he'll get out on that much unless the wind drops17

i went up to the lakes yesterday intending to stay 3 nights. The wind and rain saw me off unfortunately having just lasted the one. I was going to stick it out but having got soaked despite wearing waterproofs, watching cars get stuck in the muddy field, watched the tent take a battering from the wind....i wimped out! Having said that i camp to enjoy myself not to test my resolve. Ive now got the mud encrusted tent up in my garden drying....or it could be mocking me im not sure!

We have cancelled our 5 night stay at Fforest Fields and I am gutted, absolutely gutted! I personally would have stayed regardless, but the OH was not so keen on going over 3hrs away to potentially gale force winds so we are going nowhere17

My comiserations to everyone who has cancelled or been washed out, I know just how that feels especially when you only have so much holiday you can take.

I'm finding it difficult to book these days as you have no idea what the weather will be in the so-called summer. It's no wonder campsites are cramming people in during the short window of good weather, it's probably the only way they can make a living.

sharlene if its any consolation i wish i hadnt gone on my trip ive just returned from rather than have had all the stress and hassle of surviving a windy night, getting a soaking then having to take down a mud splattered soaking tent i then had to pitch again to dry in the garden when i got home. September tends to be a nice month these days so you never know!

We're off to Pembrey in Wales this weekend, we've got to be there so cancelling isn't an option but I've just checked Metcheck and it's a remarkably good forecast.

I don't normally bother with forecasts as they are usually wrong so now I'm worried!

Was the forecast bad for Fforest Fields Sharlene?

We've just come back from fforest fields and had lovely weather except for today when it was windy and raining.. is the forecast bad for the next few days? Shame you had to cancel as its a wonderful place to be.

Just returned from Angelsey and seen 5/6 tents blown to pieces this week with the wind and rain. Ours managed to stay the course, not quite sure how. Maybe the deltas.
