I purchased a Vango extension for our Aspen 700 DLX which is brill for the extra space especially when the weather turns bad (fits all the chairs, beers and whatever else we have taken outside), only downside is the OH moans all the time when putting it up (tried to break it once) then kindly comments how useful it is?

That's huge! I could probably get my entire tent underneath that - lol. I might have to look at them erected before buying. I think the large Vango one will be too big for my tent and I can't visualise how much space the standard Vango one will have.

I have a vango venture 500 which we use with large sun canopy.  It gives loads of extra room, infact we never sit in the tent at all now.  I have put a picture on my gallery to give you an idea.

Thank you for that. I have also found some pictures on the tent reviews of the venture 500 connected to a large vango canopy.

My concern is that my tent is quite a lot smaller than the Vango Venture 500 although similar in design (see my profile). The sleeping area is only 185cm high and the front porch pole is lower, probably about 170cm. Whereas the porch pole on the venture is 180cm high.

Also the width of the Venture at the front is 270cm whereas mine is only 240cm.

I am wondering if the large canopy (if it fits, bearing in mind the height and width difference at the pole) will be totally out of proportion to the tent and look silly - lol

I usually camp on my own or certainly no more than two of us, so I don't need a huge amount of extra space, just enough for a couple of chairs and a table. The problem I have at the moment is that the porch area is just not big enough to sit in comfortably, especially if it's raining and you have to shut the door...certainly won't accommodate two chairs and a table.

Just bought a Vango standard canopy off eBay, the theory being if it's no good I can flog it on  and try another one. 17

I don't think the size difference will matter. I am intending to use mine this weekend with my very small, low dome tent just to sit under at night. I'll let you know how I get on!

Quote: Hi we have a Coleman Canopy £30 from Argos. It just pitches over the tent (or vehicle in our case. Since then I have put another pole sleeve in it and another pole and we can both stand up under it.

Hi - how did you do that? I'm tempted to have a go at creating an extension canopy for our Sunncamp Family Vario using spare poles and a tarp but wasn't sure if you could buy ring and pin and webbing, and how to make the pole sleeve strong enough. Very resourceful of you!

My Vango Standard Canopy came today. The material doesn't look as if it will make a very big porch but the single pole seems huge...certainly a lot taller than my tent porch pole. It also seems to be an exceptionally thick pole for such a lightweight porch. I hope they have given me the right one.

Going away this coming weekend so will test it then.

Such a shame you can't buy a Coleman tent awning for love or money....I have tried...but no success...all sold out it appears! Bugger!
