Poor (literally!) you, M1TCH!  That was an Xpensive mistake.  But at least now you have spares of everything!17

Yes I left the tent poles behind once.  I'd split them off from the tent because the bag was too heavy for me to handle on my own, and then left the ruddy things behind at the back of the loft...

Realised when we were about 10 miles into a 100-mile journey, so was able to go back and fetch them.

My parents drove off once and left the dog behind at the campsite! 17 They thought he was asleep on the back seat with my brother and me, but the poor mutt was still sniffing around in the bushes (dogs loose on sites in those days!).  We heard barking as we drove off down the lane, and there he was, running for dear life behind the car! 17

He got chocolate to make up for it!

We forgot that too, on our last trip.  After a short interlude of gobsmacked horror, I used the tent-peg extractor!  Didn't spill a drop!

Don't know if I would have had the patience to do it with a spoon, though! 1717

year ago when I was 81/2 month pregnatn we went on holiday with our then 11month old we took the cot ( big van).

When we had set up I suggest hubby put the big suitcake under the cot out of the way,

Which suitcase? the big one you had to step over on the landing,

Oh I thought you put that one in.

Our daughter had no clothes but all her washing kit and nappies and the only tooth brush with just 4 teeth to brush.

We went out and brought a set of clothes each plus 2 tooth brushes and managed for a week. Still no washing to doo when I got home.

Now I put out whatclothing  i want to pack and then take about half back out.

Maggie

P.S. He left the girls cases behind once again when they went to stay with relatives for a half term break. They thought it was great buing new clothes.

These have had me in stitches!!!

Only been camping 5 times and lukily have not forgotton anything 'camping' wise, but have forgotton

the poor dogs food (had to go out first thing saturday to find some) and also forgot my contact lenses!

Hubby had to drive around weston super mere on the saturday morning and help me walk into a opticians! Had to phone home, get perscription, then call shop - nightmare. All with me not being able to see past the end of my nose!

We have all the camping stuff in big bags and tug tubs... now have a big bag of dog food and a bag of toiletries as well

Kettle once. Windbreaks on same trip ( windy site too)

But the worst was when OH left the roof top box keys at home, we realised 1 1/2 hours into journey. As we was going to far from home for him to take us and then return we had to turn back, to get them so 3 wasted hours, with four VERY bored kids. And we'd left early to avoid traffic etc ended up sitting in the traffic, not speaking.

To make matters worse we'd been rowing badly before this point, can you imagine how it was when he dropped his bombshell. Actually he didn't even tell me, I had to ask cos he was scrabbling around in his pockets and in the the little box where he keeps spare change etc, searching for the key. I sarky said what you forgot key to box?? And he snapped of course not!!! then had to own up. Not the best start to a two wk break!! Did get me out of putting tent up, When we arrived OH told me to Foxtrot Oscar, cos we'd have probably ended up having fisty cuffs. I took 3 boys swimming while he and DD did the tent!!!!

The first time out in our large mpv, adapted for camping, and an hour into our 2-hour journey I realized we had forgotten the bedding. OH wanted to come back for it but it would have just wasted time on what was a very short weekend anyway, so we drove to the nearest town, found a shop selling bedding and bought a complete new set.

We were away for two weeks in Northern Scotland (in the real proper middle of nowhere) and I forgot to pack any trousers - the one pair I was wearing were fairly mucky by the time I got home (and still have the stains on three years later!)

If you make the terrible mistake of forgeting a corkscrew...simply take a serving spoon handle, or similar, and push the cork into the bottle (rather than trying to pull it out!) Spills can be avoided if done slowly!1717.....of course you have to remember to take the serving spoon, or similar lol!
