I live in Nottingham and haven't been for the past three years, its good to see but too expensive, I have a half price voucher for Alton Towers so I will take them there instead.
The last ride we ever went on was the log flume, it cost us £4 each - it was the quickest £16 I have ever spent lol.
Passed the goose fair site just yesterday. There are hundreds of caravans on the forest, but they belong to the people running the fair. you have to be a member of the showmans guild to get onto the site.Think its a worker union

I had the good fortune in the 70's of being on a course in Nottingham which coincided with the Goose Fair. As well as the huge funfair all the pubs and clubs in the town were bouncing as well. The Nottingham girls have the reputation of being the prettiest in the country, which had something to do with the lace industry I was told. It was a great place for copping off but being newly married I could look but couldn't touch
Biggest problem at Goose Fair these days sadly is petty crime. Not just pickpockets and the like either. Low-level street robberies, such as mobile phone theft, bag snatches etc are commonplace.
I understand that there is a high police presence (usually the CSO types) but still not somewhere I would fancy.
Much prefer the thought of Alton Towers.
If you are planning to go, and are not Nottingham based, easiest route in is to park at Phoenix Park (M1 J26, then take A610 towards Nottingham) Phoenix Park on the left - and use the park and ride tram service - as it will take you right to Goose Fair.
