i work at camperlands

and the shop sale prices are genuine

these are just a few fact which you can check

well sell all the new range of coleman propane cookers for example

the coleman rrp as stated in the brochure perfectflow grill stove rrp £79.99 our price for the year has been £62.99 and there is currently 10percent off the £62.99 price which equates to 30 percent off rrp prices

the perfectflow 2 burner stove colemans rrp £59.99 has sold all year at £46.99 and currently has 10 percent off the year long price

907 gas bottles rrp £69.99 our price £39.99 no disconut but that was year round price £15.99 a refill

It well maybe that as stock sells out new 2010 stock has been brought in and the price has gone up but we always sell for way under rrp where we can discount

in fact every chair from coleman is sold at under price as are most outwell accessories

all sleeping bags are below recommended price with 10 percent off

seem people to quick to judge sometimes with out checking

Hi Nick

Yes, like many camping retailers you are selling many things at a discount relative to the RRP and yes some things are a very good buy and 10% less than what they were in January, but you would have to admit that this is not true of everthing, as per the example of the 2010 Kampa tents. I had been thinking of buying the Bude 4 from Camperlands so had been watching the price and was especially interested when the sale was announced on this forum. However, when I checked the price, it had gone up on your website from £199.99 in January to £222.22  (which allowing for your 10% sale took it back to £200 - 1p more expensive than many of your competitors). Even google shopping was still showing the January £199.99 price for Camperlands well into your sale period.

This thread therefore was just a warning to others to check out prices elsewhere before taking the sale at face value for all items on the website (as the "10% discount on marked prices for internet orders during Showtime" would seem to imply). It was a bit of a marketing ploy to be honest - an alternative approach would have been to have identified particular items or groups of items as being on sale, leaving the rest at their January prices.

I am sure that Camperlands have done well out of the sale anyway, as there have been people on this site that have spotted the odd bargain...

Recommended retail price is a marketing concept and in no way relates to the sensible selling price.
I find it quite insulting that shops feel that quoting the mathematical difference for their price versus RRP is implying a deal.
Just compare actual price offered. If Camperlands for example are proud of their prices, then just say so rather than spurous comparisons.

It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

Hi Catalan74

I found out from Kampa that the amount of interest they are getting in the Bude 4 will probably mean they run out of them before the season's out. They only produce the number ordered from their approved retailers. As they say - they go for high quality and low numbers.

They aim to start distributing to their retailers about the 3rd week in March. Unfortunately there isn't a retailer near us, so we'll have to buy blind.

What is nice to know - if you email them you get a quick response from a senior person and it sounds from reviews that if you have a problem they'll sort it personally within days. Its nice to find a company with such good service! The tents are also tested in real British weather at prototype stage and get rejected if don't perform.
