As to all this worry about knocking open buckets over...does this happen much? My kids never have and they've been using a bucket since out of nappy days. The boys of course had it easy but even the girl had no problems at all. In fact she loved the bucket so much she would go round the back of the tent to find it during the day rather than going to the toilet.

Of course the boys (of all ages) are prone to sprinkling. Not nice on a ground sheet so as Hubby explained you either pick the bucket up or kneel, neither of which is really possible when using larger or more complicated arrangements.

And it's just so much easier to clean out! Two swills round at the tap at the waste drain, done. Dab of disinfectant on a hot day. No chemicals, no fuss, no smell. I take two, one for pee (and clearly marked as such!) , one for laundry and carrying the recycling. Gas bottle fits inside for packing. Really, I don't understand this need to make it any more complicated than that. What is it with Brits and loos?

If you are really worried about spills from the night bucket then do what a lot on here do and put a layer of wood pellet cat litter in the bottom of the bucket to soak up the number ones

In the morning empty the bucket into a carrier bag and give it a swill out so no worry about spills

Ha ha love the bumper dumper! We walk the dogs at Delamere Forest and as they don't have dog poo bins, we loop the handle of the poo bag over the tow bar and carry it home that way.
Would not allow anyone to drop a log in our tent

One more use for a small cheap plastic backed picnic rug? As I said I've never had a spill, but the bucket always sits on a picnic rug on the principle that I could scoop it up and get it out the tent before the mess got too widespread. And it's easy enough to hose off a picnic rug.

This post is outrageous and distasteful......who on earth would read the daily mail while 'logging', don't you have tetris on your phone?

I certainly wouldn't dream of reading the Daily Mail while on the throne, I agree it's quite disgusting.

But then I'm a Guardian reader.

I see no need for all this expense, personally. Boys can use a bottle and so can girlies with the help of a shewee. Hardly take up in room in the car, either.
