Just one thought re. Freelander. Once inner is attached can it be pitched as one with flysheet? I might ask grandson to attach it first time for me.
I believe it is not recommended to leave the inner attached when packing up the tent, as the extra bulkiness could damage the joints and poles.

Re the beds, I have had our Aerobed (size is large high double)in the Freelander and itvwas a tight squeeze and not something I was happy with because of the slopes of the sides. I am sure a (large high) single would be fine though.
Thanks for your response RubyT. As you say, the QE joints are OK once you get the knack. When I became single again I bought the Tourer 200 but sold it in favour of Freelander being a smaller tent.
My daughter can't understand 'needing' to camp, especially solo. We camp together occasionally but for her it's cheap weekends away with the children. For me it's the lifestyle, being outdoors and away from our sheltered housing complex. Fortunately my flat opens onto a big lawned area and I can practice pitch, though what neighbours will think I'm not sure.
Lots of people don't understand that need imo. Most of my friends think I'm mad.
I've got a Khyam QE too (Excelsior) and I find it a breeze for pitching solo. Maybe we should have a meet for older ladies with QE tents!
Just a thought. I too have problems with the kneeling and bending, but whichever tent we have and however easy to erect, it will still need pegging out which requires getting down to do it properly.
I have a little cushion for my knees and crawl around from one peg to the next to elimainate the need for all the up and downs. Expect I look a bit daft!! But am past caring.
I can usually manage to peg down - at least I did last summer - but it means crouching or bending as I cannot kneel at all so everything take longer. It's putting the poles into ring and pin which is so hard.
Before I finally decide on a Freelander I might attempt to pitch the Nevada 3 again. Last year when I camped with daughter and grandhildren, they in their own tent, I was l going to pitch it myself but my daughter pitched it before I could attempt it. Then we had to break camp suddenly as daughter became ill so I took her home leaving son-in-law to take tent down.
I guess the alternative is to accept my difficulty and ask for help in which case I could manage the Nevada 3 and save me some money. I like the fact that fly and inner go up as one and it has good height. It's just that in the past at some "friendly club" sites when I needed and asked for help got funny looks and refusals from fellow campers. I worry in case I get to a site and no-one helps. However I now know that UKCS folk will help if asked.
