I have the Quecha tarp and the Obelink and they both do the job. It's not the same as an enclosed tent - it's just a flat sheet creating shade, so there's no noticeable difference in cooling ability, IMO!

I use the Quecha more because it is smaller and lighter, but the Obelink looks better with my canvas tents!

I was really hot at Glastonbury in a polyester tent, but it was freezing overnight - I'm glad I packed an extra blanket for everyone as we needed it.

One thing I did that seemed to help was to run windbreaks round the tent, the higher the better, so at least it kept some of the sun off the tent. And as soon as it was about 7am I opened the zips as best I could so there was air - by 9am you could not sit in the tent whatsoever.

Not that I'm complaining mind you!!!

As an attendee of Glastonbury festival last week where the temperatures were ridiculously high I managed to stay in bed until about 9.00ish which is when I started to cook!

I pegged a survival sheet to the outside of my tent to deflect some of the heat.  Not the most attractive of things and can be quite noisy if there is a brezze but definately helps.  I don't go camping without a couple of them!

I'm just back from scorchio Norfolk. I solved the nylon tent problem, as I also took a two man cotton double skin tent. I slept in that at night.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

That's a great idea valk-scot about the ground sheet.  I know that you prefer grass underfoot,  I shall do the same, this time.  Also it will save time setting up.  I will just put a tarp under bedroom pod for protection, and thats it.  Hopefully it will let some grass recover at the same time.

Hot - in a tent? I've yet to experience that.

I'm up in the highlands and although I consider it to be summer here (its warm, with occasional showers) its nothing like the temps down south.
We are heading down in a couple of weeks and I'm praying "too hot in a tent" is a problem we'll have to deal with

I've never, ever found anywhere to be too hot but I'm prepared to keep looking.

This year we're using our new quechua 4.2 pop up, had a trial run in the garden and it went up and down a real treat. It took us longer to put away the 2 sec pop up, that's for our teen boys!

everything will be ok in the end, if its not ok, its not the end. Anon.
