yes there was plenty of room with the inner. there wouldve been enough room for OH and the other 2 kids even with the travel cot. i think not having designated 'beds' makes it a lot easier! (apart from the cot of course!)

i have 5 kids, and had this in mind when i bought the tent, the inner makes it a bit more comfy at night, and hides the rubbish during the day!!!

Chic is fine if that's what you want,  comfort  is better.

 

Get round the displays, look at the usable space,   Find the one for you. 

 

 

 

I think good quality canvas tents,including bell tents went out of fashion because people have been brainwashed into believing that huge,plastic,poorly made Chinese tents that collapse in the wind and heat up like blazes at the slightest hint of sunshine,are better.

Well I do agree with the polyester, price over practicality, but Bell tents went out before the advent of Poly,  The reason was Ridge and Frame are the better design.

 

Makes you wonder how domes are the 'latest development' if the bell tent use of space is poor and obsolete...

Low dome/tunnel tents are infinitely warmer - which is obviously better in cooler temps.  Also, bell tents are heavy and cumbersome.

That said, I love our bell tent, but get very cold in it out of season - it's a summer tent most definitely (unless you have a heater) but to be fair, I am a 'cold' person.

I actually think pitching it is no more time consuming than any other big tent - patrol tents are far more difficult.

Guys are everything in this type of tent - it's fine to have them close to the tent in good weather, but to be honest, it's no more trouble to peg them further away and then you're set for whatever the weather throws at you.  As a pp said - get the tension right - you really shouldn't hear any actual billowing - wind can be loud enough without the canvas blowing around.

Downsides - they seem to collect a lot of condensation during the night, and there's the age old problem of dropping a wet tent - in this case, it will be a very very heavy wet tent indeed, and you will need a big garden to dry it out when you get home.
