exact same thing happend to me last week, tent ad said perfect condition only used twice, drove from manchester to wales to collect, when we got there the tent smelt of mould so i opened the bag and it was full of damp and mould, seller said they were sorry and a genuine mistake, but i would check anything before putting up for sale, they even apologised via email later which was nice, but had i not gone to collect i may of ended up in the same situation.only worth getting tents if you can check there condition first.saying that i did buy the same type of tent but a new one off ebay a couple of days later at a good discount, and we are very pleased with it,so if you cannot travel to check second hand tents, wait and one will come up later that you can, also beware of a second hand gelert utah 4x4 in wales...it might smell.

Hi Pete,

Just looked at parcel2go, quoting £60 for 2 day delivery, not as cheap as I thought, thanks though

Ignore the DHL/UPS options on parcel2go - look at the HDNL one instead (Home Delivery Network) £14.99+ vat for a 25kg parcel, 120cm x 50cm x 50cm. It's a 3 days service, but I used it to send an Intex pool a year ago - massive heavy package - and the guy received it in less than 48 hours.

Sorry about your E BAY experience. I have used them for years, and always followed the code of no see, no pay,I only bid on large items that are within reach as I too would have been lumbered with a couple of large, expensive items if I hadn't have seen them first

I was gonna say that that price seems a tad expensive, I sent a Hi-Gear Zenobia, porch and carpet for £15 with parcel2go on next day delivery.  Is the tent really heavy??

To the op, please push this through the small claims court, with all the evidence you have they won't have a leg to stand on with regards to it and also as they haven't responded that suggests to me guilt, good luck

We've just been stung on Ebay after years of excellent business, only to the tune of £56 and the petrol from Cov to Manchester but still frustrating.  We'd already left good feedback too, lesson learned but we won't be put off Ebay we'll just always use Paypal in the future.

The tent weighs 40kg, then theres the footprint and carpet on top, have relisted now with full gallery of really good pics, so hoping I'll get more interest from a genuine happy camper who deserves the lovely tent.

OP don't be so hard on yourself- foolish and a numpty - i would say not, niave-maybe.  Trusting, yes.  I'm sorry you were "had" but put it down to experience and you'll be less likely to be had again.   Some people make a living out of being dishonest! but luckily there are more good than bad - and what goes round comes round.

Thanks to all those who have posted a response. I will pursue the matter and see where that leads.

I have photos from when I pitched it and they are date tagged which is helpful.

Have to say that this is my first really bad ebay experience but then I have never bought anything as expensive and have always used Paypal. Feeblcat - as you say what goes around...

Cheers

GS
