Funnily enough, I was thinking of starting a thread on this today! I have 3 cats, and am thinking of taking one with us when we possibly do a one nighter next week to test out our tent!

She is an old lady (not sure of actual age, she is a cat we foster and was found wandering around, but probably around 18), doddery on her feet, and basically sleeps all day and all night! She doesn't really walk anywhere in the house, just sleeps. She travels fine in the car on laps (we took her to my Mums at Christmas which is 300 miles each way), so can't see any reason not to take her really, other than will the campsite let her (but then if she stays in the tent which she will, would they even know?).

No chance of taking my other cats, they still bomb about everywhere and are quite active, but I think as long as Samantha has somewhere comfy to sleep she will be more than happy!

In the 1970's we took our old cat all over the place and she always managed to **** in the van! It was our own fault, as we thought she was just nervous, Bless her. She wasn't any trouble at all. We forgot to feed her once and spent the day on a Cornish beach, only to find a crow with it's chest eaten inside our tent when we returned. We also took a young ginger 1yr old named Ben. He was a right tearaway. I don't recall him ever scratching any tents, but during the night we kept hearing screams coming from various tents around the campsite. I didn't know what was going on until he shot over the top of my tent and in between the fly sheet! I couldn't stop laughing after that.

If you intend to take animals, then it's very important to take the correct measures and keep them under control. If you're not sure how they are going to behave, then bring a large cage or just leave them at home. Consideration is the key.

I'll let you know how it goes. They may have changed their minds now that we are going for 2 nights instead of just the one. Watch this space (and stay away from Eype if you don't like cats!)

I take my cat camping, but i do have a motorhome, hes been camping since i joined
UKCS and has been on plenty of meets.
I do take him on walks with a extendy dog lead and a harness and now we have the puppy that was fun at the last meet, with both wanting to go out at the same time, had to get an extra lead.
