That's really rotten Maj. Having been burgled twice in the past six weeks it really does make me wonder where we're going and that's not just when I get lost in the car!
After a long drive like that (I don't much like driving) I'd have felt inclined to book into a hotel for the night and have a phone round to find the nearest shop with a footprint in stock or even get one posted to me rather than have my holiday ruined.
I did a week long mountain leader course up in the lakes a couple of years ago but I saw very little of the Lake District because it rained most of the time so if rain is something with which you have trouble coping, I'd suggest somewhere other than the Lakes for a camping trip!
hi Maj. We got back from park cliffe on Friday afternoon. Will write a review later. The weather in the lakes changes so quickley its a shame you felt you had to go home. Next time stick it out, if you have problems there's always other campers ready to help, I know from experiance. Never use a sat nav in the lake district you're just asking for trouble, the Phillips navigational atlas is the best in our opipion!!! It's unusual to come across thieves on campsites as most campers are honest individuals (do unto others as you will have done to you) maybe someone thought it had been forgotton and handed it in..
Happy camping for the future, and remember British weather will always let you down..we have to grin and bear it!!

not to sure thats true as an ex courier driver i think sat nav is a great bit of kit if you use common sense just because it says "you have reached your destination" you might not have but i bet your not to far away never ever use one set for the shortest journey that way you are asking for grief
how many people can map read and know exactly where they are ? sorry off topic but just my 2p worth
Maj try and squeeze another weekend away this year next season is a long way away i bet you will have a ball
thanks for that british bronco, no its not been handed in i left my number just in case.whats park cliffe like is it mainley flat pitches ? the one they gave us at the croft was on a slope there was no way we could of pitched 2 tents our size on them the front of the tent would of been level with the road never mind leaving space inbetween them.to be honest someone pinching our footprint just topped it.i was upset to think someone had taken it i always thought fellow campers look out for each other we have always left our tent with stove & cadac outside and never gave it a second thought about any one taking it.you could actually see the tyre marks were they pulled up on the grass. all campsites was booked up so we decided to head back home .i dont mind the rain i'm gettin quiet used to it every time we go away the sun shines for weeks on end then the day we go mr rain appears i'm going to fool him next year i will book my dates then go a week early lol that will fool him
thanks everyone for your replies
