How about corn beef ash cheap and cheerful - cheapest was is a bag of frozen cassarole veg from iceland about a £1.00 tin of corn beef and the more potatoes the better will feed you for a week. I made on before I went camping this weekend and we went to bed very full and happy - great on colder nights (im sure I will be taking one to shell island in october

How do you make BBQ Scones? They sound yummy

Make up a scone mix (we cheat and take the packet mixes with us when camping.)

Add any currants, chocolate chips, dried apricots, desicated cocounut etc.... to the mix if you want.
Wrap a small handful round a scewer so it looks like a sausage on a stick.
Cook over the BBQ

Eat and enjoy - they taste extra lovely if you fill the hole left by the stick with jam!!

Thanks for ALL your ideas guys! Gave me lots of insperation! Karen im especially impressed with your dish! Thats some expert camping cooking right there!

Spag bol is for meal one, then its going to be a decision between corned beef hash, or meatballs with something. That decision will be made when I go shopping tomorrow :)

Should be fun, the Coleman Evolva kitche annex will be put to full use hehe.

Were going Shell Island this weekend, weather forcast is looking excellent from Thursday onwards.

Can't go wrong with hot dogs for kids. Took my grandson with us last weekend and thats all he asked for, thought it was camping food !! He had to make do with cooked breakfast, curry and rice, chilli with nachos and melted cheese.
Have you got anywhere to plug a slow cooker in, makes a lovely stew. I cook the veg in pans though and add it when gravy thickened.

When we got home he told his mum , 'no more showers I've had too many at camping'.

It's a bit like Damper bread that us Scouts make and cook over the campfire. Kids love cooking it.

Sausage casserole is a great feed a crowd meal.  You don't need to slow cook it to keep it tender but there's not many people who don't like it.  Not too expensive either, though I think it's always worth buying decent sausages.

Hee hee!  I'll share a little secret now, shall I, Paul?  When I moved in with my OH 4 yrs ago, he'd stripped most of the house of wall, ceilings and floors, ready for a total internal re-build and extension...It drives me crazy, but he still has never put it back together.  We could do a whole series of DIY SOS!  So, I have no proper kitchen and my trustee camping stove is what I use day in and day out at home.  We have big families who seem to like what I rustle up for them in the non-kitchen, so I've become quite adept at towering pans as described in the post you're referring to.  'Anybody surprised I love our neat and tidy, posh and rather glampy tent so much now?
