I loved it, wished I'd done it years ago.   I didn't venture too far, but will do next time. I'd read on here of others going solo camping and finally plucked up the courage to do it, so thanks for all your support and tips.

Evening everyone. It's been a great day here weather-wise and it's still a nice evening. I'm just getting my bits and pices sorted ready for off early in the morning - don't have to pack much as most of it is still in the van from my last break.

I've just had a mention on Real Radio, they have a 'happy hour' from 7 till 8pm every weekday where you can phone in or text why you're happy at that particular time, so I texted to say I'm happy as I'm going camping and I got a cheer and the special noise that they play!

Just wondered, does anybody know if the M6 is likely to be busy early tomorrow morning - say from 6am? Got to get down past Birmingham and I'm just wondering if I should change my route.

I spot a business opportunity - solo camps - but not a 'singles' campm or camp singles, or whatever. I've 'flown alone' recently too andthoroughly enjoyed it.

Your tent looks so cosy and cute oh, and very impressed you put up such a large tarp solo - I tried that ,and it was a bit like plate spinning - soon as one side was up the other was down...

Bridgeywidge, the tarp was quite easy to put up. I had a trial run at home the day before much to the amusement of the neighbours! We really struggled to put it up but I think this as because OH was 'helping' and insisting that it needed 2 people to erect it. When I arrived on site, I wasn't worried about putting the tent up, but about putting the tarp up. In the end, I threw one guyline over the roof of the tent and pegged it at the back (I made sure that most of the tarp was positioned over the door as that's where I wanted to cook). I then pegged one guy at the middle front using only 2 sections of the pole, I found that having the pole short helped to stop it from flopping around. I did this with the other poles and then lengthened each guy in turn adding the sections and making sure that the poles were at an angle and not straight. I also used 2 extra poles (the tarp only comes with 2). Hope that made sense

The weather got a little bit blowy and I was going to add another guyline with a clingon, but when I tried it felt like the clingon was going to put a hole in the fabric. I think it would be better to use a 'snap tool' to make a hole.

Val, I got the tent off ebay, I don't think it's ever been used. It came with 2 new chairs, a new roll top table and a new 2 burner stove and grill all for the grand sum of £50 I absolutely love this tent.

I have never tried to put a tent up on my own (well not recently in any case) So I am impressed by anyone who can.

Glad you enjoyed your solo flight and that little cabanon looks the dogs doodles!
