I live in Blackpool and the weather has been up and down lately, some days really sunny and today its peeing down!
It is a little cooler at night but it depends on how you are with the cold - I am no good with it lol
If I remember rightly though last october was quite warm here and if you have a warm sleeping bag - and maybe some warm jimjams and a heater you should be ok

I would love to squeeze in another little camp in the oct half term but not sure I can brave it lol - it was a pain drying the tent out last time it rained

If you have ehu then buying some electric underblankets will remove the uncertainty of whether to camp or not. Turn them on a a few hours before getting into bed and you will find the sleeping bags etc. toasty warm and unless extremely cold you will probably have to turn them down low.

We have used very lower power underblankets to good effect in early season (frost on the ground etc.) camping - we do not use ehu at other times.

I’ve been struggling with the same question - the first sentence of the op could have been written by me.  In the end I’ve decided to take the plunge and I’m taking both my girls across to Normandy for half term week.  To be fair this is a bit further south than Blackpool!  However, the end of October is the end of October and I know from my first camping trip in August just down in Kent how the temperature drops in the middle of the night.  But I wanted to get away again this year while the kids were still enthusiastic.  I’ve booked a pitch with EHU and have been scouring this site and there’s loads of useful hints and information about keeping warm.  My inclination would be to go for it – aside from anything else you’ll learn from the experience for the future.

Good luck!

we tried camping in Oct once and it was horrible but to be far it was years ago, we were in a borrowed tent, very small and single skinned, plus the sleeping bag I had borrowed from my brother, was damp and smelly!   It was for a car rally and was our first ever overnight camp out but 20 years later we are still campers, though moved from tent to FC this year.
