Most of the 'hardware' (such as pegs, hammers, gas cooker, lamps, tools, spare pegs and poles, etc) is in a carry-crate in the brickbuilt utility/storeshed which is rather damp and dirty. But all the 'soft' stuff - the tents, the sleeping bags, the picnic blanket (carpet) and the self-inflating mat and roll mats - gets thoroughly dried after each trip then stored in the loft. I'm lucky in that my loft is very dry and seems to stay pretty warm even in winter (despite being above 200mm of insulation and a chipboard floor).

In fact, there are sections of drying tent draped over my bedroom and living room right now because it's too wet to hang them on the washing line.

All my equipment goes up in the loft via a pulley and rope arrangement, with the exception of all the Sleeping gear that stays in a cupboard, it’s a well insulated loft, even carpeted throughout (the remains of two old carpets from the living room and bedroom) I have space up there with a rope and hook attachment from the top beam to hang a tent to dry if need be, touch wood have not had to use it at all this year.

My last camp this weekend until March, so everything is loaded in the roof box and car, ready for the off tomorrow morning, back Monday pm, the weather doesn’t look to good, but who cares, I will be camping!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the replys.  There are some really good ideas here.  We have decided to store both the tents in an inbuilt bedroom wardrobe where there has now been plenty space created as OH has decided to have a bit of a clearout.  So that now solves that problem!!

Maybe it's a waste of time putting your tents away Krazycamper because you seem to be away camping every other week......lol

Lets hope we all have a quick winter and spring returns asap so we can all get back out there again

Tommy

Ha Ha Tommy.  I really wish I could continue with camping over the winter months. I dont think it would  be the cold that would get to me so much but the long dark nights would.  Roll on the spring time.  Have you had any luck in your search for the perfect tent yet?
