Me and the wife went camping in our outwell tent in 2009 when she was 8 months pregnant,we had a week in cornwall 262 miles away from home then a week in devon on the way back and she was fine,we just made a note of postcodes for hospitals near to where we were camping that had maternity units and a couple more hospitals on route so that we could divert if needed...
Our little man Spencer was 18months old yesterday hence we've had to move up from a tent to a trailer tent this year for the extra space as last year when he was nearly one it was getting a bit cramped for space lol ...

See how you feel nearer the time, you might not be up for it then. As others mentioned go prepared incase little one does make a suprise early showing (mine did )As well as medical notes and bags for hosp consider what you will need to transport baby home if they did appear early eg car seat etc
I'm a mum of four and two of my babies came early and two of them came late!! With number 4 I missed out on an all expenses paid weekend at a hotel which was scheduled a few days before due date - was I fed up when she didn't arrive and to add insult to injury I had to be induced 10 days later.
hey congrats you two!! i too am pregnant and really fancied a meet being organised for wales 3 wks before my due date, i was all up for it but my hubby put the stoppers on it, for sure i'd go in to labour early out in the middle of knowwhere - me, i'd be happy to have gone as i really quite fancy giveing birth on a lovely warm summers eve in my tent then joining the others on the meet for a celebratory fire and party ( this is my first so i really am convinced it'd be that easy lol!)
It might be easy Alison as long as you can take along an anaethatist to put your epidural in, so you can sit there quite pain free until its time to pushhhh!
Alteratively, you could watch 'One Born Every Minute' on channel 4 at 9pm tonight, to get an idea of what labour and delivery is really like lol!

When I went I was 7 months, ask for a pitch near toilets unless you have your own for those frequent night trips, comfy bed, know where the nearest hospital is, take your notes and a few baby clothes just in case.. I'm sure you will be fine..

In principle I think you should go, but the only thing that would worry me is how fast they can sometimes arrive.
One of my friends gave birth in their car, parked by Brighton racecourse, as she couldn't keep the impatient baby in for the last mile or two to the hospital, another one made it with only 15 minutes to spare. My friend's DiL had hers in a taxi - she was on her way back home to get her bag after her waters had broken at a party.
Still, I think it's good to get them used to camping early and you can't get much earlier than being born in a tent.
