I will get the new one and probably enjoy it as a one off read. I did enjoy the forst one, but it is not something that I would keep re-reading.

I have somewhere but I wouldn't know where at the moment. A lot of my books got boxed up and stored last year when I was decorating - if I can find it between now and the meet I'll bring it with me, but don't hold your breath! lol

Finished the book. Really not a lot of camping - but funny and I enjoyed it.

For the past few years my Missus has been keeping a 'Camping Journal' .On more than the odd occasion this has been a hilarious read, usually next morning after a particular livley night. The handwriting aspect of the book deteriorates at the same rate that alcohol rate increases. We've smoked out tents, wash outs, ghost stories, paranormal activities, ufos, quick exits through gazebo windows, table stumblings, walking adventures, many,many pub tales. I'm pretty sure one day this will make a cracking book for 'real' campers.

I have started to 'dramatise' the OH's camping journal and would be interested in what fellow campers think of it, whether it's worth carrying on and would people actually pay for the finished book. Let me know if you would like a sample chapter, you feedback is most welcome.

I hope this hasn't broke any forum rules. It is a great place for getting true campers feedback.

I LOVED this book, first time in years I've guffawed out loud wen reading a book!

I never camped as a child, but alot of the tales were very reminicent of the OH's childhood camping experiences in the 70's. I've been reading bits out to him and we've both been in stitches!

I loved it so much that I bought another book by the author yesterday (I left my tent in San Francisco) at FULL PRICE in WH Smiths (unheard of for me to buy a book at full price! but I couldn't wait for Amazon to deliver!) - I'm enjoying this one too - thoug tere aren't quite so many belly laughs in it!

Honestly that takes me back to my camping days with my family. It was soooo funny, We had an orange and brown frame tent, we went to cornwall and france, I remember the toilets in France that just had a hole and when you flushed them everthing came back up at you and then disapeared back down the hole, I was so scared as a child to use them. Its the funniest book, thanks for letting us know about it. Am downloading to my ipod 'I left my tent in San Francisco' as I write this, hope its as good.
