Hey LewLincs im also from grimsby, ive not long joined this site, we started camping last year and have just bought a Hi Gear Zenobia 6 with porch, we are going to Orchard Park in Tuxford next weekend, we went a couple of times last year and we like it, ever been? I would like to go to france during the summer for a week, any advice on getting there and good sites to stay? its me, wife and 2 girls aged 4+5 would like a site with pool, bar, resturant, evening entertainment and beach close by, and an idea of what we would expect to pay, shame there is no pm function, so sorry to hijack the thread. But go, we are going next weekend provided its not predicting heavy rain all weekend
It's a small world! We're fairly new to camping - we borrowed a tent and all the gear and FIL's VW camper and went to Devon last August - the weather was truly awful, it rained every day but I still loved the freedon that camping offers, especially with kids so we went out and bought all our own gear. We've been camping once with it over Easter which was awesom, I'm well and truly hooked now!
As for France, my husband used to go every year down to the South of France with his family. We've been twice as a family (August 06 and August 07) down to the same site (La Brasilia in Canet Plage) but we didn't camp, we stayed in a static. Fab site, fab weather (mostly) and fab location but I don't fancy the 1000 mile journey each way with a 4 yr old in the car!! So we're going to La Garangeoire in the Vendee, it will be around a 12 hour journey (car time) plus the crossing, stopover and comfort breaks. We're breaking the journey up with an overnight stay which means we'll be arriving on site around lunch time which will give us plenty of time to set up. I'll let you know what La Garangeoire is like when we get back but I'm hoping we'll enjoy it - the reviews on here are really good! It's set in the grounds of a chateau and is approx 10 miles from the coast. It looks lovely for younger children too, I really can't wait - 11 more sleeps! The price for this time of year is really good - we've got a 'super pitch' which includes a gas bbq, fridge, outdoor rable and chairs, parasol, 2 sun loungers and an hours WiFi per day, and the total cost for 10 nights works out at approx £240!!
