hi, we have used a double airbed for several years, not sure of make but only needs topping up every couple of days.

We have just got, and will be trying out this week end a new bed its a intex queen size deluxe,and at its deepests its 19 inches deep, will let you know how we get on (sleeping that is) lol

well we tried it the weekend, first night, not enough air in it, second night, still not enough air in it, thought it was plenty hard and inflaited, the pump we used seemed to fail as no more pressure seamed to make the bed any harder, other than buying another pump, any ideas please.( the pump we used is a battery powerd and normally no problem with our old air bed) Thanks

We tried using air beds, but quickly gave up on them switching instead to self inflating mats - we have a double one for my wife & myself, plus three single ones for the children. The great thing about them is they don't take up much space in the car, and unlike air beds don't go down over time. I also find them more comfortable. I had a problem the first time I used my Intex double height airbed. It ended up going down every night and I was convinced it had a hole in it...I contacted the place where I bought it from and they asked me to test it out once more at home before sending it back. I did and it stayed up no problem?!

All I can think is that I inflated it when we got to the camp site. It was a warm day so it was warm air that went in it. Overnight it was very cold - warm air expands, so it stands to reason that the air 'shrunk' as it cooled down.

When we were away last week I didn't inflate my airbed until it had cooled down in the evening - and I had no problems with it over the 9 nights we were away. I topped it up with a 30 second blast of the pump every night and it stayed up perfectly.

So I would try inflating it latr on in the evening and see if this makes a difference.

We bought a Coleman Queen double height air bed new last year - and I loved it, it was comfy and a good height for getting up from. Used it for a grand total of 14 nights, 6 of those at home, but on last weeks trip it deflated first night. We pumped it up for the second night but it went down again and OH ended up pumping it up at 2.30 in the morning and again in the evening! Two nights on a deflating air bed, no fun. Tried and tried to find a leak, good campsite entertainment but no-one laughed too loud, and gave up and bought two camp bed and XL deluxe 10cm SIM's. These are comfy, a good height and the SIM's are much better insulation even on top of camp beds and at least they can only go down a very little and not drop us on the floor. The Coleman we left, with permission from the site owner, and have written it off to experience!
