I was thinking that too, any kind of paper disposable thats without some sort of plastic/wax liner will eventually allow liquid to seap through, we found that one out the hard way with a couple of half drank Mc'Ds that the grandkids once left on the back seats of our car overnight. 

Even the disposable receivers used in hospitals will disintigrate and start to leak when filled with fluids for more than a couple of hours.

We use the Highlander loo with the recent addition of a folding bucket suspended underneath the bags using holes drilled in the plastic rim of the bucket and some guyrope. This makes the toilet a little more presentable but does a vital role of catching any leaks. We also have a home made lid made from a decorated flexible chopping board. See my gallery for a picture of it both erected and folded flat. The bags can be obtained for the toilet from a retailer on ebay or from Wilkinsons at the moment as they do a version of the loo.

If you have a disposal point then you can just tip out the contents and bin the bag (tied up in a nappy bag). We don't use absorbants as they just cause problems for disposal. We haven't used biodegradable versions of the bags as having cleaned up a leaking toilet in the past we daren't go there again even though we'd love to be greener on this!

In the army, its a case of position the toilet (no bag) over a hole you've dug out, do your number 2s and then back infill the hole. If you are somewhere you can dig a hole, I can't see why you can't just empty the contents of the bag down the hole and backfill similarly.

Good idea!  I'll try filling a cornstarch bag with liquid under the tap before we leave.  Without being too explicit (not really possible, eh?), I'm hoping the liquid will go in the bucket as usual and the bags only necessary for solids.  The bag will be buried immediately (or as soon as possible) so am not going to leave it around!  I think cornstarch bags look to all intents and purposes like plastic, so they should be more solid than paper!

Also, I like the idea of placing a bucket beneath the bag as well.  Not sure if it will fit, but we'll see.

By the way, the Whiz Freedom http://www.whizproducts.co.uk/en/ is absolutely brilliant too.  The reviews suggested they were better than She Wees and I'm happy to report, no issues...

This is just the sort of comment which unfortunately comes from the contemporary camper ( the one's we hope for dear life we don't end up pitched up next to ). The OP posted a coherent and articulate post and this was the 'ug' response. It's not clever and its not even funny.

I thought it was a fair and funny response to hearing about someone who was "alarmed" about crapping in a hole.  Alarmed indeed!

So may be it wasn't clever but at least it wasn't unctious...
