Wow, looks fantastic. I am just interested whether lone female campers choose particular sites to feel safer. Do you choose somewhere bigger and busier so that there are lots of people around? Or do you go for somewhere quiet where it might just be you?

I know that the chances of being attacked in the middle of a night on a campsite are very remote - I just wonder if it feels a bit strange settling down for the night when its just you - or maybe I am being a bit feeble because I always camp with my hubby.

Personally I would pick somewhere quiet over somewhere busy any time, but I'm a very confident and independant person so it would never occur to me to think "What if....?"

I recently stayed at my favourite site in Norfolk, all the bank holiday campers left on the Monday and the rest with school age children had gone by the Saturday, so from then until I came home the following Wednesday I had all that part of the site to myself, and I loved it.

I tend to chose the quieter campsites, not so much because of feeling more secure, but because I like them. I have become a bit more careful over the years and would not chose a remote corner anymore, as I did before, but I must say I never had bad experiences.
I think the smaller campsites offer this "village" feeling, where we look after each other, while the big busy ones are more like the big cities, where people turn their backs and expect somebody else to cope with it, when anything happens...

Thanks for that. We usually use the CS sites but I am taking DS and a friend for a couple of nights as a treat so was thinking of going somewhere where there might be a bit more for them to do. Wont be exactly lone camping but I will be on my with the kids.

We are going midweek because school is closed for a couple of days and I guess it will be fairly quiet anyway.

If its a success I want to take the kids again in the summer.
